2024-25 Roster…too soon?

Yea I agree either they are showcasing Korchinski/Kaiser or the Hawks brass just do not like Del Mastro very much because he doesn't fit their team speed identity.

Edmonton being sent down to Rockford has more to do with getting him readjusted to the Icehogs so he can play in the playoffs down there and less due to his performance here. And giving him big minutes in big games, even in a lesser league, is important for his continued development.

Whatever. He was going to Rockford anyway for the playoff run.

But Davidson is more interested in watching Murphy and Korchinski being turnstiled 10 times a games so by all means.
I wouldn't be so harsh on Murphy. There really is a large enough sample to show that Allan, Kaiser, and Del Mastro performed admirably when paired with Murphy.

Don't think it matters too much. Rockford has a three game weekend and needed someone. Whatever playoff "run" Rockford manages (hopefully longer than 2 games) was already going to include Del Mastro. If they want to give Korchinski/Rinzel/Levshunov the rest of the (three game) season, Del Mastro is a bit of an odd man out already.

Jeez, he's just going down to help Rockford clinch a playoff spot. It's not going to impact his chances of making the big team next year.

Chill.
I have a suspicion Hawks break camp next year as follows -

Vlasic-Levshunov
Allan-Murphy
Kaiser-Rinzel
Crevier

AHL:
Del Mastro
Korchinski
Kuzmin
Harding

I could be wrong but I think when it comes to the defensemen, KD's plan is to go the Vegas route.

Size size size.

Every Vegas defenseman is 6'2" or taller.

EDM in, Allan down? It feels like unless someone gets traded, that's probably a competition amongst EDM/Allan/KK
It definitely feels like it’s between Korch and EDM for that spot. Maybe they feel Lev going down isn’t the worst thing for his development too which would open up a spot. Kaiser has to stay since he’ll be waivers eligible.

A trade could change everything of course which I personally think is going to happen.

How many clowns do we have to see trip over themselves before these projection models and most advanced stats get laughed out of the room?

I have little to no use for the Bader model. The Game Chart posted near the end of game day threads is a glorified box score with a few advanced stats thrown in. But if most advanced stats should "get laughed out of the room", keep in mind that the Hawks currently employ 12 people in their Hockey Strategy and Analytics department.

I find Natural Stattrick a great tool to keep my eye test in check. Not all the stats, but with proper sample sizes, a lot of those stats not found in box scores and certainly missed by the eyes.

nothing wrong with advanced stats. the problem is with these blackbox rube goldberg algorithms that they use to decompose a bunch of discrete and individually useful empirical metrics and aggregate them back into wannabe-WAR theory of everything numbers like "game score" or "nhle".
