2024-25 Roster…too soon?

Why Barzal and not Boeser? Do you think Boeser will be signed for more or less than Barzal's contract?
I'm all for signing Boeser.

I don't know what he'll get in free agency, but you're always competing with other teams (legit contenders in particular).

Barzal is locked up, can play down the middle, and he's one of the best skaters in the league. I wouldn't mind moving some assets to make it happen. Also Kyle is one of the few GMs that has recent trade history with Lou.

Brock Boeser is sloooooowwwwww. And honestly pretty bad defensively too. Just a one dimensional player really. Like it’s a good dimension, but not paying 8 million plus for it. And he’s only scored 40 goals one year.

Seems like a solid candidate for one of those free agent contracts gone wrong we look back on in a few years.

Yeah I definitely wouldn't do 8M+

7M would be my limit, but he probably gets more. In which case, count us out.

Before anyone says anything, NO on Saad after he was waived today
He used to live in my building. Doorman who knew him pretty well said he and his dad were out shoping for a new place in Chicago when he got traded and he was blindsided by the trade.

Which is pretty stupid of him because he forced it by not being flexible on his contract demands.

Just comparing Barzal and Boeser they seemed superficially similar in age and production.

Barzal is listed as a center (but is apparently playing wing) and Boeser a winger. Barzal is a fast skater and Boeser slow. Barzal's CF was a notch better than Boeser, but they were both good. Barzal not good at the dot (although he's taking fewer draws than earlier in his career), and Boeser when he has to take a draw is even worse. Boeser is a UFA, though, and Barzal has six to go on his 9.5 contract. Is Barzal even available? If the Hawks signed Boeser he doesn't cost them anything. What would the Hawks even trade for Barzal? A first, Nazar and KK?

My take on the Hawks needs is they either need a strong c to play with CB who can play d and take the draws, or they need to slot CB as 88 #2 who will play on the second line behind a matchup 1C patterned after JT. If Barzal has already been moved to the wing because he's sub 50% at the dot does he fit the Hawks needs as a 1C not playing with CB, or a d-minded 2C to play with Bedard?

Is Boeser Dylan-Strome-leading-scorer-on-a-playoff-bound-team-slow?

I feel like he would be more useful than hall because of his possession game. While my first inclination was to advocate for bringing him back im not sure it’s worth it without a sweetener.

No on Saad for me.

There's no point in bringing him in. He has another year on his contract after this. If the Blues can't get anything for him this year, what makes you think you can flip him next year for a pick after another year of decline? It won't happen.

Moore is potentially the next Saad. I'd rather have him on the team next year.
