Have you watched AA?

There is absolutely nothing tangible that says AA doesn't want anything to do but collect a cheque just from his play alone.

Once they figure out they still pay you if you play or not you can find the Lonzo Balls in every sport.
I'll give you that he's not good. But you realize he's a free agent after this year right? He's going to have to try if he wants another contract for more than the league minimum.

Maybe I'm wrong?

Well, he's made around 20 million dollars in his career if those contract sites are accurate. That's a good chunk of change.

He could realistically go play in Europe for the remainder of his career and live comfortably for the rest of his life. I mean, there's no team outside the Hawks and their idiot GM who is going to blow 8 million on the guy ever again.

Seriously, which would you rather do?

Play in Europe and sit on beaches filled with beautiful European women/men?

Or try and salvage another nhl contract playing in Rockford?

So you think that him being around young players will try to convince them to try hard for just long enough to find a desperate GM to overpay players just so they can reach the cap floor, then bag it for the entire contract, and then finish their careers in Europe around beaches of beautiful women and men?

You think he's changing the paradigm of players dreaming of their names on the Stanley Cup to ending their careers as a somewhat rich disappointment on a beach in Europe?

Yeah, JFields not making much sense here. To make your $4 million salary dreams come true, you have to do something to convince someone to give it to you. AA's career is filled with short bursts of production, including post-deadline in '23 when he and Reichel played well together that got him paid. The young guys would just look at him as a well traveled NHL veteran that probably maybe used to be decent but sucks now. I dunno to what extent they do deep dives into his career and how he ended up where he is now, if they did they'd see nearly 500 career NHL games at about a half point per game clip including a 54 point season.

Yes.

AA is the purest definition of right place, right time, just enough talent to find a stupid GM and exploit his stupidity that the NHL has seen.

By paradigm, do you mean he's starting a pattern of guys playing for money over Stanley Cups? Because he isn't the first one who was all merc over historical substance.

Or Paradigm as in model? The same model that Lonzo Ball, Zion, washed up pitchers, Eloy, Luis Robert, Cody Bellinger have blazed the trail in perfecting in the current sports landscape?

Bellinger could go to the Yankees for a shot at a WS, yet chose to stay on the Cubs for? You guesses it, 27.5 million dollars. Blocking what, two uber talented kids?

Or find a sucker like Davidson.

The point is, AA didn't deserve the money, Davidson still gave it to him. That money could have been better spent. And cap floor is just a useless excuse.

Davidson is the problem. He's a horrible judge of talent and projecting results from his NHL25 GM mode program.

Leave it to Davidson to screw up a "generational" goal scorer by not bringing in actual talent to surround him with to the point a kid who's bread and butter game breaking talent has taken a back seat to "but bro he's such a great playmaker" when in juniors he had more goals then assists.

Sooner or later, probably later, you will all see the problem as clearly as yours truly.

Players getting overpaid happens pretty regularly, you still have to do "something" for there to be a sucker in the first place.

Given the situation the Hawks were in at the time, overpaying AA on two years doesn’t really mean much. I’d rather see them overpay character guys and leaders like Foligno if they’re going to do it to hit the cap floor… but it really has no long term impact.

I'll admit he benefitted by being in the right place at the right time but I don't think other players can count on that for them to just pack it in and hope to find a dumb GM.

I'm not claiming he's starting any pattern. Yes there are plenty of guys who are in it to get paid. But I am arguing that those guys are going to be those guys whether they happen to be on the same team as the guy you claim AA is or not. I don't see them becoming lazy just because they see a guy getting paid in the press box.

Back to the original point though, I only see him as a waste of Danny Wirtz's money. I'd love for you to come up with a player who was motivated to win multiple championships only to turn into a paycheck collector because he saw one other guy do it. The Blackhawks have had and will have players here for a paycheck but I don't think it's because of Andreas Athanasiou getting a contract to reach the cap floor.

Most important thing is to keep the cap clean, so overpaying AAV with low term is much more important than getting someone better that commands 5 or 6 years.

OK, what did AA do?
Why is it a useless excuse?
Because there were better players out there to waste money on.

lol if this team being the drizzling shits three years in a row isnt convincing...
He's not screwed up
really? What were everyone's projections for Bedard before the year started? 40 goals? 50 goals? How many times has he slammed his stick against something so far this year? More times then goals scored?

Davidson did not bring in actual nhl talent to compliment him. He brought in talent, just not the right talent.
And then what? GMs get fired all the time, who cares.
A GM who fails at a rebuild when he lucked into a talent like Bedard puts this franchise back to the days of the ABC line, Karpostev, and the washed up Russian brigade Smith tried bringing in.

Who cares? As a Hawks fan, I do.

Do you fundamentally understand how Tank/Rebuilds work? Why the eff do I care that the Hawks were "drizzling shits" for three straight years? Were they on a Stanley Cup collision course in 2021-22? Are you aware of the era that followed the "ABC line"? I'm sure as a Wings fan, you got blindsided into thinking Hakan Andersson was going to draft Hall of Famers in the 7th round forever and the Wings would continue contending for another century. Then Chelsea Dagger became a song of nightmares for you in the 2010s. The Hawks sucking majorly in 2005-06 went a long way to making that possible.

thats the real question.

If you wereva Hawks fan, you would.

right?
Were they on a Stanley Cup collision course in 2021-22?
no, but bowman tried to get every last drop out of his core. The guy got addicted to winning, can't knock him for it. Rewarded Seabrook for being a warrior and paid for it. Traded for Jones who at the time was pretty damn good then got paid and now you see what he's become. Drafted Debrincat, signed Hagel, drafted Vlasic and Allan...come to think of it, bowman was better at this rebuild shit then Davidson....

Are you aware of the era that followed the "ABC line"?
Yes. It's looking similar currently.
I'm sure as a Wings fan,
Show me one time where I posted in the wings forum here. I'll wait. The only nice thing ive ever said about the Wings are they signed Kane and Cat. Former Hawks, of course.

But its a meme here and memes are funny.
you got blindsided into thinking Hakan Andersson
Who?
Then Chelsea Dagger became a song of nightmares for you in the 2010s.
chelsa dagger is a garbage song regardless. The fratellis are a garbage band. They made one video with a hot blonde chick who was into some creepy ass stuff. Not a fan of either.
The Hawks sucking majorly in 2005-06 went a long way to making that possible.
You're really not trying to compare the 05 Hawks to the current slop, are you?

Don't play coy. Where do the best players in the League tend to come from?

McDavid - 1st overall pick
MacKinnon - 1st overall pick
Matthews - 1st overall pick
Draisaitl - 3rd overall pick
Kucherov - 2nd round pick
Makar - 4th overall pick
Pastrnak - 25th overall pick
Q. Hughes - 7th overall pick
Panarin - Undrafted
Rantanen - 10th overall pick
Barkov - 2nd overall pick
J. Hughes - 1st overall pick
M. Tkachuk - 6th overall pick
Crosby - 1st overall pick
Kaprizov - 5th round pick

8/15 you needed to tank to draft
3/15 you needed to still be bad and not close to playoffs to draft, but not full tank
4/15 not tied to being bad to draft

Hawks would be well on their way to picking 9th overall with like Patrick Kane, Dylan Strome, Alex DeBrincat, Brandon Hagel, Kirby Dach, Jake McCabe, an average prospect pool lead by Ryan Leonard if the Hawks followed his "advice".

Yet outside of Bedard, what do the Hawks have to show for this "tank"?

Debrincat was a 40 goal scorer, yes?
Hagel is a 30 goal scorer, yes?

In between all those players, how many busted?
Tanking and drafting high doesn't automatically mean great players.

How bout those Dallas stars?

Right now, Davidson has Bedard who isn't the prolific scorer he was in juniors and a boat load of question marks, none of which look like sure fire elite talent.

Nazar is lighting up rockford? Big deal. Do it in the nhl.

Korchinski is a bust, Levshunov hasn't played enough, and everyone else is toiling away under the guise of development.

I'm sorry, great players play in the nhl in 2024. If your trading away great players and getting draft pick slop like Korchinski, you shouldn't be in charge of a rebuild. If you are jettisoning Kane and Toews yet bringing in garbage like Folingo, Brodie, etc, you shouldn't be in charge of a rebuild.

It's funny Poles currently is getting thrown under the bus yet that energy isn't directed at Davidson. Poles made one bad trade(Fields) and one bad draft pick (Caleb) while Davidson has captained a winning organization into the laughing stock of the nhl.

Patrick Kane became Martin Misiak and a 4th

Alex DeBrindcat became Kevin Korchinski, Paul Ludwinski and AJ Spellacy

Brandon Hagel became Oliver Moore and Sasha Boisvert

Kirby Dach became Frank Nazar and Gavin Hayes

Jake McCabe will be a 1st
