My bad I was confused due to VAN’s nervousness in getting him signed to a new deal. I was poking around their boards and they’re acting like he doesn’t want to play in Canada anymore.

He’d be 28 or so when his UFA deal kicks in. Could be a great veteran presence on this squad by then.

We should trade for the other Elias Pettersson that Vancouver has. Would be a shit-ton cheaper.

Something new if teams not qualifying RFAs has opened up way more options for teams, I think there will be a few more ‘UFAs’ this summer
Regardless of his QO, he's way too good to not qualify. You don't let him go for nothing.

you know who might not get a QC is taylor Raddsyh. look what kurashev got last year? is he worth 3 mil for 2 years? i hope we move him to a team looking for a small bottom 6 upgrade that is really cheap. IE under league min Maybe we trade a 5th and get back a 3rd?

I’d rather keep Kurashev than trade him for a 3rd. We’ve got no talent on this roster so I don’t see the value in trading a proven NHL talent good for 40-50 points for a measly 3rd or even 2nd round pick that has something like a 2.5% chance of succeeding 5 years from now.

im saying the Kurashev's numbers are probably worse then taylor when you factor in 20 goals last year. so TR could get close to $3 mil per season and I dont think he is worth it? what do people think? we were all surprised how much kurashev got.

If Elias Pettersson makes it free agency, we’re all in agreement we should sign him, yeah?
Reviso: Assuming we don’t get 1st OVR, would you trade the #2 or #3 pick for EP40 as an RFA assuming it’s a sign and trade for something like 8 x $11m?

I wonder if it’s better to have the extra 5 or so years of a young potential superstar draft pick or to have the guaranteed success of a franchise 1C that’s 26/27 years old. Pettersson is a proven solid two way 1C. We have no idea if Lindstrom or the other top 5 picks reach those levels. However it could be an inefficient usage of Pettersson’s youth as we’re kind of “wasting” his prime while the team grows and improves.

Trade for EP40, make some prudent UFA signings the next couple of years and have our prospects develop with actual NHL talent so when Bedard’s ELC is up we have a potentially elite team.

I love Elias Pettersson. He just turned 25. If he really didn't want to sign in Vancouver then I would be interested in signing and trading for him, but likely Vancouver would just rather entertain an offers heet to get 4 1st rounders rather than accept 1.02 or 1.03.

You can walk away from an Arbitration award if you really hate it. There's no reason not to qualify Raddysh, it's a very low QO amount and the Hawks aren't in a cap crunch if it does go to arbitration. Personally, I would cross my fingers that a 5.8 % shooting percentage turns more into the career 11.3 % shooting percentage, and along with his ace penalty killing, he's a guy you can eventually flip.

You can only walk away from it if it’s 4.5 million or more. What Raddysh could potentially get, we couldn’t walk away from.

The bigger problem is he’s not an NHL player. Never mind 20 goals, he’s not on pace for 20 points this year. His outlier year he was stapled to PP1 with Kane, that will never happen again. We don’t need that garbage on the team next year.

You could honestly find a min league player in free agency who can produce more than Raddysh.
