Today’s fun fact which I suspect many of you already know.

Before the Caps selected Cole Hutson with the 11th pick of the second round in the 2024 draft there were five other defensemen chosen in that round before him including the Sabres who picked a Dman immediately before the Hutson selection.

Btw the Caps also chose Ryan Leonard in the first round of the 2023 draft.

Sometimes quality players fall into your lap depending on how the draft goes (e.g Eiserman), but when it is all said and done, nothing beats a great scouting department…. Oh, and picks. It helps to hold onto those too.

Quiet nights for Eiserman, Nelson, and Nurmi as they return to their college and junior teams

Cam Berg finally back from a long injury for North Dakota

Xavier Veilleux continuing to impress in USHL 19 points in 32 games. 6th round defenseman

Our NCAA boys are rolling!!!

Eiserman with 4 pts 3 goals

USA USA USA

Danny Nelson is back too. 1 goal 2 assists

Nelson’s backhand is legit!!

It’s funny the criticism of Eiserman on the main boards is all he does is score goals. That’s the one thing you can’t teach you can learn and get better in the other aspects of the game if you have a good work ethic which from all I’ve read he does. I’m sure some here remember a certain quote from Buddy Ryan all he does is catch touchdowns.

The new backhand of justice.

Yeah. Combine that with his draft age (3 weeks from being in the 2025 draft), and what he's doing looks even better. He appears to have better offensive instincts that Wahlstrom, as well as better agility. imo he still looks lost in the D-zone. But he looks a little less lost.

It's going to be interesting to see how it all turns out especially wrt the strength of the '24 draft class being possibly far better than expected.

Eiserman seems to have that knack for disappearing and then reappearing in open spots for shots.

He also has a deadly one-timer, and if he has the puck on his stick for any time he changes the angle on the goalie and makes them move.

He has great potential to be a goal scorer in the NHL.

Their college draft picks have been terrific as well.
FWIW, the owners seem to have upped the investment in staffing, including scouts. Compared with the Wang years it's night and day. Go to the team website and look under "business directory". I count 18 total scouts (pro and amateur), 4 analytics people, 5 player development guys, etc..
