Does anyone else see Jeff Skinner in Tony? I mean at least Tony will try to defend, probably not well but I don't actually question the effort. Still his offensive skills and shot are elite. His straight line speed is well above average and while slight he's not afraid to lurk around the dots, a la, Hull.

As always I want to see sustained dominance at the AHL level but this seems pretty typical for Stranges. Obvious skill that got him drafted in junior. Bursts of outrageous talent, but not consistency. Questions of whether he'll even get an ELC then that fantastic junior year that earned him a contract. Similar pattern in the AHL so far. He also can't really be bumped down on this roster because there just isn't enough talent ahead of him so he gets opportunities that were denied to him the last few seasons with Bourque and Stankoven in front of him.

Sustained production in a pipeline now bereft of offensive talent could get him a look see as an injury call up or at least a real shot at next year's training camp. My faith looks like it's really beginning to be fulfilled.

The fact that he's a LW helps Stranges a bit. Weak organizational depth behind Robertson long term. Father time will catch up to Benn some more and Marchment isn't guaranteed to stick around after next season.

Texas wins in OT

Holy f*** what a goal it was. Between the legs by Cameron Hughes. Gorgeous goal

Believe Kyrou was scratched tonight. Probably just Texas giving some guys a rest since they played yesterday

Didn't see Bichsel at all in the 3rd period or OT. Might've been injured? Edit: Looks like he registered a shot on goal in the 3rd so I guess he did play. Definitely did not see him the last 10 minutes of it though

No points for Stranges tonight

If you want to feel better about the Hemming pick, take a look at the next ~30 picks after him. Not a whole lot of early winners so far. FWIW, the one game I watched Hemming, I was fairly impressed with his overall game. Great skating/hands and he surprisingly (based on reputation) made some nice passes. Barrie has been very low scoring this season, which can be highlighted by a player that scored over 100 points in 60 games being barely over a PPG on the team this season.
