Last time I wished for a playoff opponent was 2016 when I thought the Islanders would be easier than the Rangers, as well as, at the time, a lot less Ranger fans in our barn than Islander fans.

Then Griess goes God mode against us.

Liked all except the last part- goaltending is the least precarious of all! Don't forget the name we were chanting when McDavid's name was called! Our goaltender was robbed of his deserved playoffs MVP trophy the last two years running. Our GM too, but 3 years.
Maybe they don't snub them this time around.

Barkov was our playoff MVP, not Bob,

Bob got outperformed by two goaltenders we faced in the playoffs.

And there was one point in the finals he was letting in every breakaway goal. About 5 in a row lol. It would have been a very weak conn smythe. He was most definitely not robbed.

I think it would be more interesting if the playoffs weren’t done as Eastern vs Western Conference. What sucks most is that there can never be an East teams SCF or a West teams SCF. Also I think the limited matchups in the first 3 rounds ends up pitting the same teams against each other over and over and over. I get that they want rivalries but the flip side of it is that they repeat constantly so no new rivalries form and also it’s the same old story every year. If the rivals do end up meeting “by chance” it’s that much more special, now it’s predestined pretty much.

JMO. I get that teams play more within division and conference and thus the points rankings at the end of the year may seem unfair, but home ice in playoffs isn’t going to give a series win to a clearly weaker team. I think there are ways to make it work and would make everything more interesting, including who you trade players to.

Everyone wants it but Boston has 4% chance of making the playoffs per Moneypuck.

I hope we lose to Boston and those are the 2 points they get in with, only to face us 1st round as Marchand seals the series with a GWG

I agree. I actually think that would be a better line than the Lady Byng/Rattrick line with Tkachuk and Bennett that everyone seems to be salivating over. TBH though - both would be fun!

I think Marchand would be perfect fit with Barky and Rein

Ahhh, not fair, I can't exactly disagree with Barky deserving the MVP. Like Leetch and Richter in 94 could've gone either way, while Bure really did earn that. Maybe if he was North American....anyway, not to get too far off track, all i can say- it's not often an entire building agrees on something, but about 18,000 people agreed with me as we all screamed "BOB-BY! BOB-BY!" And I kinda disgree with the outperformed part, though Igor put on a show that will go sadly overlooked but by few over time. Doesn't take away from Bob's performance, especially the most timely saves. Meanwhile what goalie would've stopped those specific breakaways? Hank's gone, only guy i know better on breakaways than Bob in modern era.

oh and "FXCK YOU BOSTON!". Crowd agreed there too! I dedicated my part to my bros in Vancouver ;) Fun stuff, though I believe we should now say "Thank you Boston" haha

Herd mentality.

Surprised you didn't call.out the cog. dis. for all I've said about the credibility of the majority over the years! I did and still do happen to agree in all seriousness, but you do have me thinking back on Barky's performance that...of course if Barky focused less on a balanced game, he would likely be tearing up the points chart too. But like Datsyuk and Bergeron before him, he'll just remain proof that a lack of MVP trophies really don't mean all that much when speaking on someone's true value

Even Bob himself will probably tell you Barky's everything to our family, but man it takes not away from some of the shit Bob pulled, especially in game 7 to seal our fate as winners.

Bobrovsky is 36 years old. He was obviously good enough last year and his sv% has been going up as the season progresses this year.. but players at his age can fall off very quickly.

Look what happened to Pavelski last year.. had a decent regular season then struggled mightily in the playoffs to the point he retired. Not saying that will happen to Bob, just an example of how quickly a decline can happen, especially when your closer to 40..

Goalie is def a QB type position where you get all glory or all the blame and no inbetween

If bob was off we lost, if bob was on we won. Think some people forget the absolute insane goals he saves, you swap goalies that series and its over in 4 or 5

What playoff game did we have that bob was off and we won? (Maybe game 6 vs boston in 23) McDavid can have a great game and a quiet/bad game and doesnt get blamed as much for that quiet/bad game as a goalie would.

Oilers somehow managed to shield skinner well in the finals while we gave breakaway after breakaway especially on the powerplays.

Dont think he was the de facto Conn Smythe, but man people act like he wasnt even close for some reason.

this is what scares me
Goaltending is voodoo as hell, injuries-age-mojo w/e and poof
