12 games is nothing. Bedard won with 68 GP last year.

Fun fact: Michkov has fewer 5v5 points than Celebrini and Smith.
All that voters will care about is raw point totals and narratives, Bedard still led the league in rookie scoring

At this point Stankhoven, Michkov and Hutson are all going to be well ahead of Smith and Celebrini in the voters eyes, more points, the only thing that might work against Stankhoven is his age like when Couture should have won the Calder but got punished because Skinner was 18 years old

The Calder is voted by the writer's association, they're legitimately stupid, all they care about is the point totals and the narrative, none of them will ever filter 5-on-5 point totals, that would take some work, it's too hard for them

You guys are weird to be Sharks fans not rooting against Michkov, if only to juice Celebrini's Calder Trophy odds.
Who cares what Michkov does? What's done is done. He's in the East, the Flyers are a mess and completely irrelevant to the Sharks both now and in the future. Sure, if he failed we wouldn't have to work so hard to defend the Smith pick, but that's a dumb reason to root for a teenager to fail. At the end of the day, a lot of elite players didn't win Calder trophies and I doubt it really mattered to them in the long term, Celebrini will be fine whether he wins it or not, and besides, Stankoven is going to win it anyway on account of being 22 years old by the end of the season instead of 18.

And Michkov won't have a chance to beat Celebrini's final point total if he keeps playing like shit and getting healthy scratched. That's why I posted "Michkov scratched lol" it wasn't that deep.

I'll wait until we have a real sample size of what Celebrini is as an NHL player before I project his totals, I'm absolutely a believer, but I am also a believer that this team is horseshit and he has very little help, I won't be shocked if he has an underwhelming end of season point total even if he continues to look like a stud on the ice since the team is constantly being caved in at even strength

I feel kinda bad for him but it’s also kind of funny that Karlsson is on another team headed for a massive rebuild
It is very much his fault though. He plays a ton of minutes for that team and he looks chubbier/slower. I felt like he was very good retrieving pucks during his Sharks tenure but this year in Pitt it seems like he's slow to get to pucks and as a result has had to face contact more.

As usual, Kurz is speaking truth that fans don't want to hear. 1 5v5 point in 13 games is pathetic from a supposed franchise player. Celebrini now 3x as productive at 5v5 in 10 fewer games.
It's okay, they'll pick Roger McQueen #1 overall to get him a nice big center
