I agree with the general idea of this although if they swing and miss on Burnes and Santander there are other paths like Teo + Sasaki or Teo + DH bat + Pivetta or trade for a starter.

If we do a rebuild I’d still try to hold on to Vlad. If Vlad wants out they need to get a big haul. Not sure I trust Atkins to handle that.

Yeah i'm like if Atkins does that he'll have finally made a string of moves that makes sense.

If the Jays can sign Teo or Santander and don’t mind playing them in the field, I wouldn’t mind picking up Winker, Goldschmidt, or J.D. Martinez as a lower-cost DH. A guy like J.D. might be a decent buy-low bet for under 10-12 m and he may have enough in the tank for one more good year. Knowing that he’s not the “main” piece makes that type of gamble more attractive.

Sounds like Arenado already did that himself.

He was nowhere near my top choice, but Walker is one of the first bats to come off the board that I would have been happy with the Jays getting.

100% agree. It makes no sense that they are allowing them to stay for this season. We lose Vlad,Bo,Gausman,Bassett at seasons end. The cupboards are bare. They’ll finally fire management and then the new management group will have nothing to work with aside from whatever we draft this year. It’s going to be an ugly overhaul. I also remembering hearing in the off season that the players don’t like our management group. Which is likely one of the reasons no one is signing here

Yeah. You’ve got good eyes, Roden is tracking really well and hasn’t really had any major hiccups or have any real big flaws. Smart offensive player. More over the fence wouldn’t hurt.

Wagner is another one who has a good strike zone and bay to ball skills.

The Jays value that kind of player, and it might be a market inefficiency they’re focused on. Horwitz included.

The tricky part with that offensive profile is that it can be hard to actually put runs up with a bunch of 700 ops guys because it takes 2-3 events to get a run. So, as you know, a thumper or two really helps push the offence.

That’s where I think posters are okay with Horwitz being traded because he doesn’t offer much value aside from his bat - where Gimenez does with his wheels and glove.

As far as the bisons are concerned….keep following them, they might be really exciting this year. Depending what happens with the rounding out of the Jays roster, the bisons could end up with 6 guys who could be ML starters by 2026.

The other thing that does stand out for me for Roden vs Horwitz, Roden had 9 HR in Buffalo, where Horwitz only had 4, but with Toronto Horwitz ended up with 12 HR, with about a 40 game difference. The fact Horwitz was able to do that at the next level is actually very impressive, so maybe a guy like Roden can hit even more, but again you just never know how they will perform at the next level, but you need to see to find out.

Wagner stood out to me as a contact hitter not a power hitter when I looked at his stats before he got called up, so was not expecting HR from him, but expected good contact and he didn't disappoint.

I get the argument for having that pop HR guy, but it's not always a guarantee unless that pop HR guy hits like .300 as well, if he doesn't then you're still leaving too many guys on base, and having a guy who can drive a ball in the gap instead can be more useful to drive in runs.

I would of rather moved Clement before giving up on Horwitz tbh, but it is what it is I don't agree with it, especially how offense has been the Jays biggest issue last 2 seasons.

I only have time for checking stats for Bisons, but I'll check it from time to time.

Arenado did that on his own. Confirms Bregman won't be returning though.
