Cozens name is out there in the rumor mill. He is young and skilled. He would cost something pretty but fits a timeline better.

I would not mind going after Brock Nelson. He would add much needed scoring. I’m also interested in Borgen. He would add size and physicality and is a RHD. Not sure Seattle will be able to afford him with all the money they have committed on the back end. He was playing top 4 until they signed Montour this year.

We were reportedly interested in Carrier this summer, so it wouldn’t surprise me if Nill wants to add some beef to the lineup.

wait until he joins Nils in ""Lulea""
I thought he was going to Frolunda

Dumba will need minor surgery and is going to be out the next 18 months..... Or anything where he doesn't dress again for the remainder of his contract
I'm not sure they can get away with disappearing someone for that long, the Comeau banishment was in the last year of his deal at least

Thought I'd look at how the Stars are doing this season compared to DeBoer's prior two.

The numbers through 28 games DeBoer's first season were dead on identical in a few places.

22-23 after 28 games
.661 points% (7th) 3.75 GF/G (3rd) 2.82 GA/G (9th) 25.3% PP (8th) 84.6% PK (3rd) -- 2.39 5v5 GF/G (2nd)

23-24 after 28 games
.661 points% (7th) 3.50 GF/G (7th) 3.11 GA/G (14th) 25.3% PP (8th) 87.1% PK (4th) -- 2.21 5v5 GF/G (9th)

24-25 so far
.607 points% (12th) 3.29 GF/G (9th) 2.61 GA/G (5th) 17.2% PP (26th) 82.7% PK (6th) -- 2.18 5v5 GF/G (14th)

The only real difference is the offense. The two season decline of the top line shows up in both the 5v5 scoring falling from great to league average and the PP now being terrible.

I guess my summary here is Pavelski needs to be in the Hall of Fame for what he did to make Hintz and Robertson look as good as they did.

Nill has not replaced pavelski’s production. The rookies are not doing it. He now has a chance to fix that with Seguin’s injury.

True, he needed to replace both Pavs and now Seg's production. Joe had declined and had to be switched out, Segs had an early season bounce back, sort of like Jamie the year before. Short version is he has to try out his kids.

We usually revolt when there is a revolving door of old guys who used to be able to fill the scoring needs. No, there aren't many currently productive scoring forwards on the market. And, getting one like Seguin, for reasons unknown to most, is a once or twice in a lifetime opportunity. Boston didn't let their scoring whiz mature, i.e., they gave up too early.

You can feel Stank is close to busting out. Borque was, IMHO, never going to be the goal scorer in the NHL, but he will still have value, hopefully as a set up man. But, he has career third liner who occasionally scores up to 15 vibes to me. (i.e. the younger Faksa)

Not sure if Nick Kyprios has much weight to his name when it comes to source info, but I saw he mentioned the Stars being an option to land Bennett if Florida thinks they can’t extend him.

Bennett would be awesome. Not sure what a deal would look like, as I'm sure Florida wouldn't be looking for futures.

Two other names I could see Nill being interested in are P Kane and Giroux. Both UFA's and both teams will more than likely miss the playoffs.

Doubt Boston moves anyone, but Brazeau could be a nice pick up for the bottom 6. He's big and puts of decent numbers for playing lower minutes.

Getting excited and a little worried for who Nill will trade for lol

At this point in their careers, none of those names intrigue me. Go for Granlund!

Id like Bennett too but can't see a world where Florida diminish their cup chances this year.

Even if it means losing a UFA for minimal or zero. The chance at back2back cups is so rare and they have a great shot.

He ain't going anywhere.

I would like to see Nill go after Giroux. I think he would be pavelski from a few years ago. Kane I still think can produce and would not be bad. Need someone on defense as well.

The only way they take on a long term deal is by giving up long term assets. You'd probably see Johnston go for Bennett.

I'd be good with Giroux, but they also need to acquire some oomph in the bottom 6.

I'm nervous of all this talk of going all in this season. No addition is going to change if the core and foundational players don't step up. Adding Nelson or Granlund doesn't make us a contender if Robo/Hintz/Wyatt are all having down years. Stank and Bourque shouldn't be the the salvation but they haven't broken out to make up for the core struggling.

Coaching regressing doesn't help either. Basically the entire team is worse than it was in years past. F, D, and coaching. NOT the year to go all in. Still a lot of time though.

Johnston for Bennett is crazy. Bennett is an upcoming UFA. I agree that Florida won't move him, though.

Giroux and Kane are just more old guys. Not super interested.

Granlund, Andersson or someone similar, and a defensive depth forward would check every box on my wishlist.

Johnston would never go in a deal for Bennett. Johnston has already out produced him in year 2. Just cause a guy may be in high demand does not mean someone like Johnston has to go the other way. Bourque? Maybe but probably not worth it. Bennett’s best season he put up 49 points. Wyatt had 65 last year.

Bennett is not enough to pry Johnston out of Dallas.

I just hope Nill does not wait too long. St. Louis made a trade and they are only 4 points behind Dallas. This team clearly misses seguin’s production and needs it replaced.
