So he has always been slow. That’s not new. Also not worth looking at for a reason why he is struggling unless it was drastically off which it does not appear to be. He put up numbers while still being slow so it’s something else.

Except hes slower than he was in the 100pt season (foot injury) and hes not putting up numbers this year.

PP not clicking probably accounts for the rest.

I'd say the noticeable drop off is the number of times he hit 20 mph. It's not something he ever does often, but he's now not doing so at all. He's only hit 20 mph once this season.

Even old man Jamie Benn has hit 20 mph 9 different times this season.

That is true and clearly points to an injury. But he is not someone who scores off rushes or with speed. Looking how he scores his goals I don’t think speed is why he scores.

The PP I could see being a reason. I don’t have his stats in PP points and I don’t want to start firestorm on the PP cause we all know it’s not well managed by a certain coach.

I just think there is something else either injury related or lack of true RW on that line. Pavelski before he fell off the cliff in the playoffs did a ton for him and hintz.

I do think they need to split up hintz and Robertson. But I do want to keep stankoven and bourque together. Those two have chemistry and the options are not great. Duchene line has to stay together at the rate they produce.

So are you going to go
Robertson-Bourque-Stankoven
Or
Robertson-Johnston-Stankoven
Not many options.

Ok. I'm sitting around waiting for an appointment, so I pulled the Robertson NHL skating numbers

21-22
Top speed - 21.39 mph (bottom half of LWers)
# of 20 mph bursts - 23 (bottom half of LWers)
Skating Distance - 201.14 mi (63rd %)

22-23
Top speed - 21.63 mph (bottom half of LWers)
# of 20 mph bursts - 27 (bottom half of LWers)
Skating Distance - 231.30 mi (86th %)

23-24
Top speed - 22.06 mph (bottom half of LWers)
# of 20 mph bursts - 40 (bottom half of LWers)
Skating Distance - 236.99 mi (82nd %)

24-25
Top speed - 20.55 mph (bottom half of LWers)
# of 20 mph bursts - 1 (on pace for only 4.8!) (bottom half of LWers)
Skating Distance - 46.76 mi (on pace for 225.55) (68th %)

He's having his slowest season of those with these numbers available. He's also covering a lot less ice this season.

Maybe this is all due to his off-season foot surgery, but it doesn't help that he's been a below average skater his whole time in the league.
When’s your next appointment? Wanna do Hintz next. Curious about the details

Robertson + Harley

:isles
Barzal + Dobson

Robertson and Dallas supposedly far apart on contract negotiations- Dallas finally resolves their RD hole.

I have no idea whether this actually works for NYI.
Found this on the main board. Thoughts? Seems fair. Would balance the team on defense and open a slot for Bichsel. Also gets speed in the line up in barzal. May hurt defensively as I’m not sure but I do hear complaints about Dobson’s defense as well as salary cap and the fact Dallas would be getting older.

Don't see why the Islanders would be interested tbh. Leaves a big hole at C for them and Dobson is better than Harley

Looking at the projected 4 nations tournament roster projections Miro’s partner is Ristolainen. I realize they don’t have a ton of options for RHD but Risto is available and he has to be better than dumb dumb. Any interest? Thoughts?

Man I don't know. Both Dumba and Risto fall into the category of "defenders I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole" to me.

Finland is doing what they have to because they've developed basically no one recently.

I’d expect Miro and Esa to play together there. Don’t see Risto playing top minutes and hopefully that doesn’t happen in Dallas either

Dumba is being paid $3.75m ea yr to be a bottom pairing or #7. With Suters buyout, thats $4.5m and $5.2m in actual cap hit for a lateral move

Dont see a three-peat on the horizon

Dumba was a horrible signing the day Nill did it. Maybe being the only team willing to go two seasons got Dumba to take a lower AAV, but it was still a bad contract.

He's also elevated his dumbness despite playing a much smaller role on the Stars. His ~16 minutes per night is a big drop from recent seasons were he was up to 23 a night with the Wild three seasons ago.

But where the dumb comes in is his penalties. Dumba is taking more penalties this season than he has in any prior season. He's up to 1:21 in PIM per game, which comes to a ratio of 8.5% of his ice time being penalties. These are the worst numbers in his career by big jumps. He's playing less yet being penalized more.

It's not even like he's drawing penalties to offset this. His ratio of penalties drawn to taken is also still the worst of his career. There's a reason he was scratched for a couple of games that went beyond bad turnovers.

Elevated Dumbness could be this year's motto
