This is the first year i can believe Gibson gets moved. He’s playing great and dostal is as well. Still don’t expect a fantastic return though. A 2nd and spare change is what i expect
I too would be concerned about tying up two retention slots for the long term. Hopefully they can just take a bad contract or two back.It will be tough to retain and tie up two retainment slots for multiple years. I have to say I'd be surprised if he's moved at this point.
I haven’t listened yet, but this is interesting. Gibson has been fantastic recently.
Those are the legit top liners. If they miss out on them there are Boeser and Ehlers as options. But I wouldnt want to give them what they will get in UFA.I don't disagree. My point was that the likelihood of them signing here is probably low. I don't want another situation like last summer where top UFAs sign elsewhere and the Ducks are left empty-handed.
Well, he would have to. Even so, Gibson getting moved almost guarantees significant salary coming back our way in any deal.If PV moves Gibson now I would have to believe he intends on making significant additions to the payroll next season
Could be an idea.I wonder if farabee would be available? He's making $5 million a year for a few more years, only six goals and 14 points in 42 games after scoring 22 goals and 50 points last season. Maybe a buy-low candidate?
Bit of a risk, but that's kind of where we are at when trying to upgrade our forward talent. No sure-thing guys are going to be available at prices we should be paying, and farabee is only 24.
We have done well to trade our 2025 picks since this coming draft is crapThe fact that we don't have a 2025 2nd (Philly has it) leads me to believe we would target something in that range (either for Gibson, Dumoulin, or someone else). At the moment, we have the #8 pick, then our next one isn't until the 70s. I think it would be beneficial to target a pick in the late 1st or early 2nd to bridge that gap.

Eh my deadline:
I really doubt we need to include a 4th, especially if we’re retaining on DumoEh my deadline:
Dumo at 50% + 4th for 2nd - Upgrade the pick we used to acquire Dumo from a 4th to a 2nd (essentially we trade 2 4ths for 1 2nd)
Fabbri + 5th(goes to another team to retain on fabbri deal) for a 3rd - I think weve seen teams that lack picks and have extra cap space, willing to make this type of deal to add a later pick to their pool. We already got a 4th for taking Fabbri in the first place, now we upgrade our 5th to a 3rd. Also allows us to avoid using our last retention spot.
Gibson for Farabee + our 2nd (or a 26 2nd) + Fedatov - stop gap goalie, top 9 forward, and recoup our pick..... Farabeee and fedatov both signed next year with caps that make retaining on Gibson not needed (unless philly wanted to pay more)
Could go the retentionroute
Gibson(w/retention) for phillys middle 1st, middle 2nd and fedatov
I would rather keep Gibson then trade him in a deal where the best piece is our 2nd coming back.Eh my deadline:

Maybe not, i mean obviously im cool with that... id just like to get a 2nd for Dumo... even if we need to add a little to get it across the lineI really doubt we need to include a 4th, especially if we’re retaining on Dumo
Well i gave 2 optionsI would rather keep Gibson then trade him in a deal where the best piece is our 2nd coming back.
Since Ratanen is a pending UFA, I don't think he's interested in signing with a draft lottery team and I don't see a team wanting to give up a lot of assets for him in a trade only to lose him in the offseason. I think he stays in COL and they will try to work out a new contract for him.The Avs are trying to extend Rantanen. If the Avs cannot get the extension, then they will trade him, as per The Fourth Period. I'm wondering when that period of impasse occurs, around the TDL or after their season is completed?
If we do trade for Rantanen, then I hope it is mostly futures (prospects and picks) and one NHL youth. The pool of teams that can afford Rantanen's future extension (probably $11+ mil AAV) and still field a full roster is small. Here is Puckpedia's current cap projections for 2025-26 season: link. Gotta think it's going to be a draft lottery team with ample cap space with loads of high end draft prospects and picks that will have a likelier chance to trading for Rantanen.
I like the retention deal, I just have a hard time believing they pay 8 mil in cash and tie up a retention slot for 2 and a half years. With Fowler it was best for both sides. Trading Gibson makes the Ducks worse.Maybe not, i mean obviously im cool with that... id just like to get a 2nd for Dumo... even if we need to add a little to get it across the line
Well i gave 2 options
1 was a 1st and 2nd
other was farabee + 2nd
Sure but I think this is similar situation as fowler in the sense that PV is obviously looking to trade him and Gibson is ready to move on.I like the retention deal, I just have a hard time believing they pay 8 mil in cash and tie up a retention slot for 2 and a half years.
