Ehhh... a struggling OFD for Mac doesn't sound like great asset mgmt. But it does seem odd to send your young OFD down to the AHL and state he's lost confidence, but are willing to entertain a trade. They're trading low?
Would def need more coming back for anaheim to even entertain that idea.

If we were interested in Jiricek... that would mean we had him pretty high on our own draft board that year.

Would prob take McTavish, but idk what they could add to Jiricek to make me willing to trade mctavish.

If they entertained a one-on-one swap of Fowler and Jiricek, sure, go for it. Other than that, I'll pass.

Not that this seems to be even remotely reasonable or realistic in any way.

Jiricek doesn't have NHL level skating/mobility right now. The risk is that he never gets it. If he does, he projects to be a poor mans Evan Bouchard. But how much does a team pay for that possibility when the downside risk is a career AHLer?

i dont see the point in adding another young offensive D to our already crowded young offensive D core.
Also, our team has historically not been good at drafting forwards outside of the top 10. We have been good at grabbing and developing D there. Trading Mac for a D would be creating a hole we most likely would not be able to fill for a long time. We should only be trading D and vets at this time, in my opinion. I don't want to be trying to replace Mac with our next Sam Steel.

Sam Steel. Ew.

I agree on your point that it's way too early to even think about surrendering McT. He's 21 years old and has 96 points in 166 career games on a shit team.

I'm not sure the Ducks can afford to trade Gibson this season without a goalie coming back. The depth just isn't there. Carolina seems in need of a goalie and Gibson at 50% is almost identical salary to Freddie Anderson who is injured and has one year left in his contract. How funny would a swap for them be?

They lost Freddie and now it appears Kochetkov could miss time, he got absolutely decked last night.
