Wonder how it changes at 11v11.So Arsenal is a middle of the road offensive team with the GOAT set piece coach?
Without actually looking at the xG 11 vs xG 10, I’m pretty sure statistically the highest Arsenal’s 11v11 open play xG could possibly be is ~14.2 or so, just given that they’ve only played ~12% of their minutes down to 10. even if they got literally 0 open play xG when down to 10 and the entirety of their current xG is in the 88% of their minutes they had 11, the prorated number could at a maximum only be 12% higher. Which would still put them firmly in the middle of the pack.Wonder how it changes at 11v11.
Yep - I'm dumb. I was thinking it was net xG, not just xGWithout actually looking at the xG 11 vs xG 10, I’m pretty sure statistically the highest Arsenal’s 11v11 open play xG could possibly be is ~14.2 or so, just given that they’ve only played ~12% of their minutes down to 10. even if they got literally 0 open play xG when down to 10 and the entirety of their current xG is in the 88% of their minutes they had 11, the prorated number could at a maximum only be 12% higher. This should be the answer. Fine, you don't want to wear it? Well 10 other guys will be wearing it to support the cause and you can wear your regular jacket out there. It's partly theater/moral grandstanding by the club, but that doesn't mean that they should abandon supporting a cause just because one player opposes it. One player shouldn't be above the club in this situation, just like one player isn't above the club for sporting reasons.
Gabriel was always a decent scoring CB before the set piece coach, now they made him a cheat code. IIRC, Gabriel was in the top five with the most goals as a CB in the last five years or something.Nah Gabriel wasn't a cheat code before they hired a cheat code set pieces coach.
Ratcliffe wasn't the guilty part in this one, Ashworth apparently didn't get along with Berrada and Wilcox. He also was the one who wanted Southgate as manager instead of Amorim. Also a Newcastle fan commented relating to this that while at Newcastle, Ashworth didn't want to sign Joelinton to an extension which was a big no-no among the fans.Ratcliffe does seem like quite a pain in the ass.

That's the risk you run when trying to rebuild your entire back room with "big personalities". By the way, according to Romano and Laurie Whitwell, United only paid Newcastle £3 million for Ashworth, not even close to what some Newcastle fan accounts proclaimed.doesn’t speak super highly of INEOS that one guy they headhunted can’t get along with another guy they headhunted.
They spent non-trivial amount of effort getting guys away from City and Newcastle and then they can’t work together.
Yeah I mean, I think everyone turned down their first offers, which probably isn’t too abnormal? At the least the dialogue is going now.Seems like a way to say hey we tried he just didn’t accept it.
I’d take VVD and Salah we need back upsYeah I mean, I think everyone turned down their first offers, which probably isn’t too abnormal? At the least the dialogue is going now.
Everyone would. Except FSGI’d take VVD and Salah we need back ups
Antony and a 1st for Salah in January then?Everyone would. Except FSG
I mean if we don’t sign Salah he’s on City next seasonAntony and a 1st for Salah in January then?

Also:
No but Ashworth wanting an English manager is not a good look on him.Let’s not try and justify this… if this was the Glazers they’d be getting crucified for this. This is not good.
The signs of disharmony were detectable at the very moment that Ashworth would have been expected to prove his worth. In searching for a replacement for Erik ten Hag as manager, Ratcliffe wanted to hear ideas from the man he had sanctioned spending around £2.5million ($3.2million) to bring in from Newcastle United due to his expertise at building structures. Ashworth, it is claimed, did not provide clear, compelling arguments for who to bring in.
Instead, there was a list and those he did propose had a theme: Premier League experience. Suggestions included Eddie Howe, despite the picture not always being rosy at Newcastle United; Marco Silva, the Fulham head coach; and Thomas Frank, the Brentford head coach. Graham Potter was another name mentioned by Ashworth, possibly as an interim until the end of the season.
Ratcliffe wanted more decisiveness and a dynamic appointment, someone with a certain charisma who was capable of shouldering the enormous responsibility and scrutiny that comes with leading one of the world’s biggest clubs.
It seemed no coincidence that after being quoted on Ten Hag’s contract extension and every signing brought in during the summer, there was nothing from Ashworth on the official announcement of Ruben Amorim’s appointment.
Ashworth was said to have had little input on selecting Amorim as United’s new head coach, with Berrada a major influence on the Portuguese getting the job. It was Berrada who flew to Lisbon when Ten Hag was sacked to negotiate with Sporting CP president Frederico Varandas face-to-face.
Friction was also apparent when Ashworth proposed bringing in a data company to evaluate the candidates to replace Ten Hag. Ratcliffe was said to have reacted badly, countering that it was Ashworth’s job to know such matters rather than outsource, while also making him question United’s in-house capabilities.
That second paragraph especially doesn’t give me much confidence in SJR that’s for sure.No but Ashworth wanting an English manager is not a good look on him.
Whitwell:
Wait, so you would've been fine with outsourcing the evaluation of the replacement candidates? That second paragraph especially doesn’t give me much confidence in SJR that’s for sure.
Outsourcing is such an insanely loaded term, asking for third party consultants who are qualified to assess in metrics that you are not qualified to assess through is a profoundly reasonable exercise. It does not presuppose that you’re not also doing any internal evaluation yourself.Wait, so you would've been fine with outsourcing the evaluation of the replacement candidates?
