The issue is the delegitimizing impacts of the appearance of impropriety. A referee's ability to do his job is fully contingent on at least some degree of acceptance that calls are being made legitimately and objectively. Obviously, that is a legitimacy which has been already corroded in the last few years with the shambolic state of PL reffing. A referee then plainly saying that he hates a specific club and calling their coach a German :eek::eek::eek:? It brings the whole thing into a higher degree of disrepute.

Regardless of whether there's a clear and direct impact of Coote hating Liverpool on Liverpool's results (something which, due to sample sizes, would be basically impossible to sketch out anyway), he will never be able to be accepted again as an impartial referee, which is what the whole system is predicated upon. And it creates a higher level of open season for his peers, who are all going to be looked at through the lens of "what's in their coked-out video?"

It deepens the legitimacy crisis to a pretty significant degree - whether or not he specifically f***ed over Liverpool is absolutely beside the point.
You know the funny thing is as it’s stands he’s more likely to get a charge for the German comment than the other part based on FA rules

Right but again, what’s the impact of 100% vs 66.7% ? We know the margins are very small. Even if it’s an extra 3 or 6 point swing in either direction that’s a huge deal here. That’s the impact here not “LFC didn’t have it that bad”
The impact is 2 points in 2020.

The issue is that a bunch of refs are dubiously accepted as impartial. Jared Gillett is an admitted Liverpool fan; that didn't stop him from being the VAR for a match with Liverpool's co-title contenders in which he overturned a yellow card and caused Saliba to be out for the match against Liverpool. As mentioned, Robert Jones is from Liverpool and isn't eligible to ref matches featuring Liverpool or Everton, yet he can ref matches that might affect their table position.
But also, "doesn't like someone he works with" is the understatement of the century here. He didn't say "I dislike reffing Liverpool games because Klopp gets up in my shit and screams at me."
In context, that's basically what happened though. Coote reffed the Burnley game - the only league match Liverpool failed to win while Coote was reffing them - and then Klopp went out in the press and criticized Coote. Then Coote made a video saying Klopp was a ****. Which, also, has cultural context and we view it differently in North America than in the UK, but that's beside the point.

Don't get me wrong, Coote is an absolute moron for putting this on video, but acting like every other referee doesn't have some manager and/or team they hate is head-in-sand stuff. Not saying you're doing this, but claiming that it is only Liverpool because only Coote was stupid enough to get caught is laughable stuff, especially when the net result is 0 points dropped after the video was made. Persecution complex.

For Liverpool.

If he would have dragged Man City down 12.6% like he did LFC, and they don’t have a 100% record in those games; that potentially swings a title too.

It works both ways.

And whenever I mentioned referees from Manchester doing Manchester games I was crazy. This is the exact same point but now you care because you think it’s effective you negatively. And you clearly have a much lower bar.

C*** is different than German C***, even as defined by the FA’s own rules.

Persecution complex my ass. The Arsenal fans are FURIOUS that Coote wasn’t talking about them. Period.

Refs need to show good judgement and at least provide the illusion that they are impartial. Coote showed neither and got caught in 4K.

Liverpool's premier league winning and points percentage was better in games Coote reffed than overall

Is it hard constantly inventing shit?

So I know this person who has officiated about 600-800 NBA games. I'm ballparking it because I don't want to provide identifying information. My point is that they officiated a lot of f***ing games, they've officiated every team more than 30 times. Their W-L record with each team over the course of these games they officiated is practically identical to the team's actual record over the course of all the seasons they've been in the NBA. There's no difference at all.

Another example is that on average there is one less point per game in his games than the average point total in every single game. That's in a super high variance sport like basketball. One point!

You shouldn't have any difference between the results of a team vs. the results of that team in the game you officiated.

So like I said, referees talk bad about players and coaches all the time (what do you think we talk about at halftime) but it isn't supposed to manifest itself in these results.

That's a wildly different sample size than N=3

Refs 100% have managers they can’t stand. Many of them are dicks. But that can’t get out there in public. There is supposed to be the appearance of objectivity in their matches. He has eliminated that completely. Has to go.

So Bentancur is going to get a 6 game ban and Enzo got nothing

Okey doke
Apparently the distinction is that Bentancur made his comments while off being an individual (and so it's FA jurisdiction) while Enzo made his as an Argentina player (so it's FIFA jurisdiction)?

Which seems strange to me given that Bentancur was on international duty at the time he gave the interview, even though it wasn't on the f***ing team bus

And, even if Bentancur had done it while wearing a Spurs kit, it's a dumb as shit position to take that "it was for Argentina, so it's not our business."

The difference is fully reducible to the fact that the FA is worried about losing viewership in East Asia but doesn't give a flying f*** about Black people.

So apparently there's now a video out of Coote snorting what looks like cocaine. Haven't seen it but DR Sports/Don Robbie just put out a video about it.

Many Asian countries have a service where you can hire a girlfriend or boyfriend at the bar just to talk to them. These ladies don't look like hookers, they look like those people you hire for company.

Still, freaking hilarious that Coote not only has been caught with the anti-Klopp video, he's straight up a cocaine user on top of that.

99.9% certain it's Partey, if the Coote video hadn't appeared this would be the main topic being discussed through the international break
Smells almost like a...conspiracy!
