Prospect Info: 2024-25 Ducks Prospects

We have dropped to 12th on the prospect pool ranking. Sure we graduated some good players but for a team as bad as we are we need to do a lot better than 12th.

"The Ducks have in essence swapped out graduates Cutter Gauthier and Olen Zellweger for newcomers Beckett Sennecke and Stian Solberg since last year’s ranking. I’d consider that a wash and yet they’re slotted a few spots lower. That’s in part because some other teams’ pools have improved but it’s also worth noting that I felt the pools ranked from 6-12 this year were all tightly bunched. The Ducks’ group would sooner move up than down and I debated them in the top 10."

He's also missing Proczyn who I would put in the top15 over Myatovic and Clang. Think he'd go higher than Terrance and Burnevik too ?

I thought it was a pretty good list overall.

I think I would have T. Smith one spot higher and I'd have Clara in there, but he has had a rough year. It's really time for the guys with the Ducks already to take some steps forward.

I don't have much issue with our placement. Our high-ceiling guys are in the NHL with the exception of sennecke and possibly luneau.

We lead the league in production from players under 21, so that level of graduation rate is going to take from these types of rankings.

For those who want to compare and contrast, I have both the 2024 and 2025 Prospect pool rankings. For the Athletic's prospect requirement, one of them is the prospect has to be "under 23 years old". By requirement, we automatically lost four rankings due to aging out.

We have a lot of fallers in this year's list compared to last year, including Clara, who fell out of the rankings completely. Last year, Clara posted a 0.913 Sv% and a 2.23 GAA in the regular season of HockeyAllsvenskan (Sweden men's 2nd tier); in 11 playoffs, Clara posted a 0.931 Sv% and 1.68 GAA. Clara has had a terrible season. No worries because he is still young. Maybe we can have Sudsie give him a visit to rein him him a bit. Here was my last update on Clara:

Too bad Suchanek has been on IR all season because he could have raised us up some. Remember, Wheeler is the one who raved on diminutive G Dustin Wolf and several years later came around to Dostal. Maybe that's why Suchanek was ranked, despite for not playing for the season.

We know they're not going to punish him for playing a physical game in the AHL or NHL.

Agreed, but timing and context matter. Fights can change momentum or add additional penalties. If the fight was selfish and not for the team, then he should be punished. If it's the opposite, then it's like you said.

In the SHL they also dress and play the 13th F and 7th D. Solberg is still getting some minutes on the ice, but I think last night was the lowest at 08:38.

It's actually been going really well with plenty of TOI, until he's losing his temper. He just has to find a way to deal with that as long as he plays there. I'm not so worried about it once he starts to play over here.
