Commercials that annoy you in the 2024-25 season

That pickup truck commercial on Sportsnet that shows the advertised truck being driven up a modest hill and on a bumpy country road.... And in the small print says "Closed course. Do not attempt."

It's a pickup truck literally advertised as being able to handle rough roads (in this case very mildly rough roads) and they are warning you not to do it.

Imagine a hockey stick commercial showing an NHL player taking a slapshot with the caveat "Do not attempt slap shots". Or a frying pan ... Ah, you get the picture.

But I'd be remiss to mention, during some time I recently spent in Ontario - yeah I wasn't thrilled about it either - they still run a commercial I will not link to, for fear of invoking the dreaded words.

Almost as bad as those obnoxious Spence Diamonds ads that always end with their signature scream. Every single time.

There have been online campaigns to have the scream removed from their ads, which they've done, only to bring it back.

Y'know how bad an ad has to be, to have a counterproductive effect and make someone want to never in a million years give them business?

That's my opinion of Spence Diamonds.

So you need to be a professional driver to drive a pickup truck for the purpose for which its designed (and advertised)? They are literally driving under the speed limit on a country road.

lol... I'm sure they don't. Well, more than like once or twice a year anyway.

It's just McDonalds enlisting current superstar athletes. They used to have similar ads with Gretzky and Sundin about 25 years ago.

Players burn more calories in a game than the average person eats in a day. It's really not that big of a deal for them.
