I look at the kings and can't help but be jealous. They have a system that works. They have won 6 in a row and their young guys coming from the ahl buy in and are chipping in. Something is rotten within our organization and it start at the ahl level
If you’re being honest, they also have Kopitar and Kempe covering up an awful lot of warts.

Another sign they're actially a great match. But perhaps not if they're in an org you root for.

Cronin is one thing but I don't really care (or even want) a GM that is "fun" to work for. Obviously I don't want them to be mean/cruel/unhealthy but a GM shouldn't be out to make friends. They have to make the tough decisions.

I mean, it's not like they're mutually exclusive things. You can be an effective leader without being an asshole. The whole "tough guy" shtick is a lot more grating when you haven't really proven anything yet and the team is a perpetual gong show.

Like others have mentioned, there's been way too much noise around Cronin/Verbeek and the type of environment they seem to have created for all of this to be just a fart in the wind.

I agree but at the same time, look at the Tkachuk situation in Ottawa. The owner had to come out and state that they have never been in any discussions about trading Brady. This is not the first time he's had to do this. It still doesn't stop the rumors. Zegras is similar although less public support from the team/owners.

Right now, the rumor this season is that Cronin is awful to play for and Verbeek is rough around the edges. In that video, they clearly are just repeating what we've all been hearing all season and there was nothing new to report. Most of the reports are from last season and in the summer. I can't remember seeing any negative comments about how he speaks to players this season.

All that being said, IMO, Cronin should be fired because he has not been successful and there's a lot of evidence to prove this. Having a GM and coach that are both tough in how they communicate is probably not a good balance.

Social media has pretty much completely negated this theory, ESPECIALLY in sports media.

Everyone is scrambling to join in the noise and get clicks so that "noise" we hear could absolutely just be one fart in the wind echoing over and over.

This. I don't like Cronin but the reports are all old and echoing up the media chain. So far, the players seem less wound up than last season and there haven't been any credible reports this season to my knowledge.

This is a really good point. It's not like they brought in a known hardass who at least has an impressive track record at this level.

I'd be more interested in whether the team respects him than whether they like him, tbh. From the outside it seems it would be difficult, considering the body of work he's put together with this team so far. Maybe things are better this year, I could believe it. But when the coach is such a problem in year one that the GM has to tell him to back off (and chooses a new assistant based on wanting to try to smooth things over), how would that not change the team's perception of him? Never mind the seeming lack of answers on the ice.
Wonder if "I don't know" is an acceptable response when someone flubs a play in practice.

I just looked at Cronin’s college record. It really isn’t that great, without knowing any context, it would appear that he wasn’t very good at the college level but I feel like I remember Pat touting him as being a successful NCAA guy.
