the calder is setting up for a massive head-to-head, like when Hughes-Makar battled. Bodes well for both player's future. I cheer for Michkov, but it is pretty easy to see how talented Celebrini is.

So. Anyone proclaiming the battle is mostly over, you'll clearly just have to wait until the very end of the season! Cheers...

P.S. And yes, it's a relevant award

Lane Hutson is right there with those 2 - I legitimately have it as a dead even draw between the 3 atm.

Fair enough, though I highly doubt it’s that way with the voters.

A lot of time to change their minds, has 11 points in his last 10 games and that happens to coincide with the return of Laine + getting PP1 minutes - he's going to finish with a gaudy point total, 60+ would definitely sway a lot of voters minds imo

Then again he benefits from Laine, Celebrini is doing lifting himself.

Not taking away from Celebrini, he's incredible in his own right.

There's just 3 very, very good options that in most years would be run away favorites - it just so happens that they're all competing against each other for the award, and only 1 can take it.

Hutson's standing also depends a lot on the Habs getting better. He won't be a serious contender for the Calder even with 60 points if he is also -37 which is his pace.

Still have it going to Michkov, but Celebrini is almost caught up and Hutson getting PP1 time from now on will definitely give him a chance to get a ton of points.

Celebrini is the vastly superior all around player right now. Not sure what everyone here means by “keeping pace” and “catching up”. You have a kid who is dominant all over the rink vs two guys who are still figuring out their overall game. Celebrini my a mile right now, and I rate Michkov about as high as anyone on these boards.

Celebrini looks like a player who is going to be in the Hart conversation as soon as next season.

Let's just enjoy having two future elite super star forwards (seems very likely to me) having a great battle.
When was the last time, we had two great rookie forwards (who turned out to become elite forwards) like this? Malkin and Kopitar?

McDavid vs. Panarin does not count to me, because one was hurt for to many games and the other one was way older.

One made a quick appearance on the previous page to point out Celebrini’s +/- on a bottom 4 team. lol
Why are the Sharks bottom 4? Shouldn't Celebrini be making his teammates better? :sarcasm:
Cerebral plays like this one?

I stand by the fact he'll need to lead the habs D in ice time and also be on PK1 to win the calder.

Flyers didn't play last night. Congrats on Celebrini closing the points gap to 5.

Oh, look at that, still a negative player. Maybe he'll end up positive like Michkov at some point.

Imagine touting a player who is outscored (and outchanced) when he's on the ice. Let me know when Celebrini starts outscoring the other team when he's on the ice.

HE'S A DEFENSIVE PLAYER!!!

Well, no, actually Michkov controls chances and quality chance share better than Celebrini, giving up less xGA and less CA.

The only argument over Michkov I'm seeing is "EYE TEST BRO!!! HE LOOKS SO GOOD! ALSO, POINTS! HE'S A CANADAIAN CENTER! SO DEFENSIVE!!" and it doesn't line up with the numbers at all.

I should hope so, he's playing on a much better defensive team

Celebrini scoring at a higher rate while playing a more difficult position is certainly a relevant argument.
