Sports per se are literally unimportant compared to war and geopolitics. Remember sport leagues, particularly in the West, are businesses through which billions of dollars flow. It is not unreasonable to deny access to those dollars as part of sanctions.
This is a nice sentiment but it's irrelevant and is straying far from the point, which is that at the time of the draft, there were significant questions about the future of Russian players in sports leagues across the world, and they remain banned in some.
His last nice play in the game was an epic divecan we see his first NHL hatty ?
They has already lost out on Stuzle and they decided to lost out on Michkov. At least they can make a shot of copium they were not the only ones, who decided to bet on "Russian issues", and drafted weaker players. Michkov is already first liner in NHL and all of players who were drafted ahead, are behind him.The Sharks at the time had one of the most to lose. Celebrini was not a consideration, obviously no one counted on getting him. If he's part of your thinking then you need to throw that line of thinking out. They were crashing hard to the bottom of the league with terrible contract troubles and a very very bleak outlook.
They needed a player that was most guaranteed to play and make an impact in the NHL and could not risk Michkov not working out for whatever reason. They had already lost out on Stutzle so they could not gamble like that again.
The way you use victimhood to claim the moral high ground and justify your misplaced outrage is simply spectacular. This is a sports website, specifically talking about hockey players, who have nothing to go with geopolitics. No one is arguing war and countries invading others and you ignored most of my post.
Also sanctions wouldn't do much to hockey players. Look at baseball and Cuba, and Cuba is much harder to flee.
Congrats on your poli sci degree though. It seems worth it if for nothing else than to justify prejudice against an entire country of people.

NHL GM: “We made a business decision based on the best information available to us at the time.”
You (probably): “It’s xenophobic hate, pure and simple.”

No, by a bunch of divers and incompetent officiatingSo the Flyers got beaten by an AHL team ?
You mean getting slashed and then cross checked 4 times by a clown? His last nice play in the game was an epic dive
Needs to be able to play defense and PK1 for any shotHutson needs some goals. At least 5 to 10. Nothing is less sure this season. Michkov at this point has to get hurt. It's his trophy to lose. I hope Hutson if he continues that way gets top 3 though. For every people who were skeptic he could hold his own...he deserves it.
No, he said it’s prejudice and he’s correct. Prejudicing some kids was stupid then and looks even more stupid now.The way you use victimhood to claim the moral high ground and justify your misplaced outrage is simply spectacular.

More an obvious embellishment. He did get tapped on his protective gear. His last nice play in the game was an epic dive
Why wait though as this is HF boards where the new shiny object always gets a bump and Faber has "regressed" scoring wise.I prefer Hutson over Faber, that's for sure
Let's do a poll at the end of the Season
Hutson as no real numbers to show, he's still just a rookie
But at this point in time, Hutson is kicking ass
That was bad business decision. It was obvious from the beginning(reasons were , it is more obvious now.The way you use victimhood to claim the moral high ground and justify your misplaced outrage is simply spectacular.

Uhhhh….the gms get plenty of information we don’t get. It doesn’t matter what Michkov said or says now. Teams were perfectly reasonable being concerned about the situation, and he had to get out of a contract to be here. Yes it all happened and it’s great for the Flyers but bagging on teams for their reads on the lay of the land at that time is pointless on top of falling short. We as fans don’t know more than they do in those moments. That was bad business decision. It was obvious from the beginning(reasons were , it is more obvious now.
All the reasons were voiced at the moment, it makes no sense to repeat them. Michkov himself personally said that he participated in all the interviews, that he was ready to play in any team.
When asked specifically about Arizona, he replied that he was also ready to play in Arizona, thereby closing the issue of rumors.
A lot was said about him, especially from Montreal (small, character, weak defensive game, one side player etc. In the end they were right about his size), but for some reason no one said that he refused them. Because he didn't do it. This would be used first. But it was impossible to lie, because Michkov would directly say that he did not do this and could later arrange an image protection procedure. That's why no one said it - he didn't do it.
And now he is playing and producing like first liner as 19 yo rookie with more goals and points than any player who was drafted before. It didnt come from outer space, he didnt find new gear, everything were there way before the draft, everything were there in the draft day, he produced and produced over the level of any player before on any level, he was the same talented player as he is now.
It was bad decision because of any reason gms decided to find to not draft him. Russian players played in NHL, they signed contracts, they traveled to NA, the only one person was Fedotov who was not the victim of evil regime but who was made his own mistakes to find himself in his situation. I see some NA players are doing their own mistkaes, it doesnt mean that every NA hockey players are rapists and NA hockey system is making rapists on a regular basis. There are more problems with NCAA players now.
And we know, Comrade, that you will also remember it and mention it in every thread you can until the end of time. What fun for everyone.Hehe, yeah, they made a business decision, which their fans will remember till the end of time.
Yeah. tonns of informations, but still they are making stupid decisions on the draft again and again. That was another one.Uhhhh….the gms get plenty of information we don’t get. More importantly….who cares? Teams take the guys that make sense to them in the moment and life goes on. Good for the kid to be here earlier than expected and playing so well, and congrats to the Flyers.

If you didn't care, you wouldn't bring it up every chance you get.I assure you, they remember it way better than I. Because I don't care and they do...

Obviously to reinforce just how little they care.If you didn't care, you wouldn't bring it up every chance you get.
