And Halliday kept up with him!

Watching Stone and EK65 (and to a smaller extent seeing Gus Bus and Zibby) last night at the 4 Nations was a painful reminder of what it could have been. At least the return for EK turned out great. The Stone trade was a disaster and he is exactly the type of veteran the Sens can use. He has instant chemistry with everyone and has a great IQ. Stone’s goal was just trademark Mark Stone. He was a step behind Crosby, allowing Sidney to take it closer to the goal line before dishing out a perfect bread in Stone’s basket. Good positional awareness, making the most out of the situation. Miss him on the Sens.

Halliday may not have top-end speed, but he also seems to have a very good IQ for the game. He has good positional awareness and knows where to be on ice to receive and distribute the puck. He has pro-level playmaking skills, perhaps NHL level. With maturity in other parts of his game on both sides of the puck, we maybe grooming a playmaking NHLer. His tear has been impressive (just like the playoffs last year).

He can complement our current scorers with his recent performance. If Norris and/or Pinto are still out after 4N, then he definitely is my next call-up. I prefer him over Blackhole Highmore. We need more offence in Ottawa.

Kid is legit

As it's been suggest before, Halliday should get a call-up, would be neat to see what he can do on the 2nd line with Norris and Batherson.
If both Norris and Pinto are back after the break, there won't be room for Halliday in the top 6. I don't see him being effective in the bottom 6.

He should have been called up for the past 3 games in Florida... Imagine if he came up and made a big impression. Would have been a game-changer in terms of our needs next year with Giroux being a UFA.

We may need to fiddle with the cap, but there should be space

Tkachuk - Stutzle - Stone
Giroux - Norris - Batherson
Greig - Pinto - ??????

If there was one guy we could have kept... although, Stone really made the right decision, became a captain, won a Cup and has played on a contender all the way. We didn't have that to offer

oh shit, didn't notice but Sogaard is even struggling in the AHL. Poor kid might have lost faith

Yea, Stone leaving was the worst of everything we went through.
His injuries would have been pretty detrimental to us, it’s one thing to take him out of the Vegas line-up, but for us it would’ve hurt more.

Not really arguing with your point as I bet he would have helped us set up a much better culture though and it’s not like we have anything to show for the trade.

It's too bad we did not have the type of owner and GM that Vegas had!

Instead of making aggressive moves to become "best in class", Melnyk and Dorion made moves to cut the salary costs knowing that the team would drop to the bottom of the league.

Halliday needs a callup, he's earned it.

Ostapchuk - Halliday - Gaudette/MacEwan 4th line
