And Halliday kept up with him!
Watching Stone and EK65 (and to a smaller extent seeing Gus Bus and Zibby) last night at the 4 Nations was a painful reminder of what it could have been. At least the return for EK turned out great. The Stone trade was a disaster and he is exactly the type of veteran the Sens can use. He has instant chemistry with everyone and has a great IQ. Stone’s goal was just trademark Mark Stone. He was a step behind Crosby, allowing Sidney to take it closer to the goal line before dishing out a perfect bread in Stone’s basket. Good positional awareness, making the most out of the situation. Miss him on the Sens.
Halliday may not have top-end speed, but he also seems to have a very good IQ for the game. He has good positional awareness and knows where to be on ice to receive and distribute the puck. He has pro-level playmaking skills, perhaps NHL level. With maturity in other parts of his game on both sides of the puck, we maybe grooming a playmaking NHLer. His tear has been impressive (just like the playoffs last year).
He can complement our current scorers with his recent performance. If Norris and/or Pinto are still out after 4N, then he definitely is my next call-up. I prefer him over Blackhole Highmore. We need more offence in Ottawa.
