He also performed really well in the playoffs last year. I’d guess whatever is going on is something mental like the change of scenery/honeymoon phase of the new team being over and now him having to adjust or he’s playing through an injury. Guys don’t forget to play hockey in their prime generally

I'm sure they're abysmal, but I feel his attempts the last few games have gone up.

They have. 10 shots over the last 5 games. That’s much better than his stretch of 2 in 9 games before that.

God how I wish we could reverse last year's Byram/Mittelstadt trade and look elsewhere.

Unless you can find a way to get a Mitts upgrade at 2C, ideally with term. My backup preference would be to get Brock Nelson as a rental and just pray Mitts turns it around.

I’ve been debating the merits of this, it would force the Avs to be even more top heavy, but if he could return to the 100 point two-way C it could be worth the risk. If he continues to play as a lame duck 2C at 11.6 the contention window is guaranteed closed

No you see, if you ask J.T. Miller, Pettersson is too low in those rankings and needs to give more effort.
If Vancouver would accept Mittelstadt and one of Ritchie/Gulyayev, you make that move in a nanosecond. Hell, I'd throw in a 1st round pick if they would take Miles Wood's contract, too.
