Sure if it's a 2 year contract so we can give that to Makar in 2 years.
Why? If the cap is 100 mill, you give Mikko 13(if not less) then you give Cale let’s say 14 mill, and MacK is at 12.6, you still have like 60 mill for rest of the team, and the cap will probably go up more

When the cap goes up it's not just the stars that go up, it's everyone on the team. You can't keep allowing all the new cap space to a single player like we did with Toews last year.

60 mill is more than enough to give to other players and have a deep roster after signing Mikko and Cale to the salary I mentioned. We have everyone else locked up for a while

Why does Makar sign for that cheap? If Rantanen gets 13M and as you said the cap goes up for the next two years, then shouldnt Makar be more around 16-17M?

I think 15 is a fair number for Cale. He seems like a type of person who would take a hometown discount

So Mikko’s 379 career assists didn’t benefit anyone else?

How many absolute snipes has Mikko had that not many other players score on has Mack assisted on?

what a rediculous post.
If you are looking for the ridiculous tony, read the way in which you twist so hard in response to my post you completely missed my point. Maybe your brain is twisted around from all the punches you absorbed as a player so we'll go easy on you.

And since you're the new kindergartener here maybe you can learn to play nice with others.

Wanting Mikko traded now is like if you wanted Forsberg traded during Avs cup contention window back then. We had the one two punch of Sakic/Forsberg then, we have Nate/Mikko one two punch now. Can not trade Mikko period

Mmmmm, wait to see if this recent effort level is a new normal. If it is then I'm more ok with him making as much as Mack.
Regardless of effort and even if he really tries hard half the season, he still produces bunch of points. Not to mention his playoff performance. I just wish the whole trade Mikko talk would stop. He’s not getting traded. He’ll be re-signed

Mikko gets you 50 goals. You trade him for 2 players who score 20 goals each, you still lose production and don’t gain depth. We will lose a Mikko trade unless we trade him for a winger that’s almost as good, like a Tkachuk or Marner or someone like that which won’t make sense because those players are also expensive

Amen.

There isn’t one possibility in which a Rantanen trade makes us better. Now or in the long run.

Cap goes up by 10M. Rantanen gets a 4M raise. Makar gets a 6M raise. That's the extra space used. But consider this: Drouin needs a raise, Blackwood or some other goalie needs a raise, Mittelstadt needs a raise, Lehkonen needs a raise, maybe even Colton. Girard needs a new deal or a replacement, Manson needs a replacement. We can't fill all these holes. Drouin walks we save 1.5M (comparing to replacing with 1M players), Lehkonen walks we save 3.5M. Colton walks we save 3M. It's hard to say how much Mittelstadt will make, but we'd have 8M to spend on his raise and a 1G raise. Best case scenario half to each is enough: Mitts signs for around 10M and 1G for 5M. Girard/Manson may be replaceable at their current cost. So what we have is 4 top six forwards, 4 top four defenseman, 1 starter goalie. Compared to our current strength we leave holes at Drouins, Lehkonens and Coltons spots. LOC and Wood are in the top six. No money for a good backup goalie.

It's doable sure, but every penny counts.

This is if you assume the cap will go up by 10 mill and no more after that, but I don’t think it’s just gonna stop at that 10 mill. It’s probably keep going up to who knows how much

You were the one saying Rantanen is a bystander and gets all his points because of Mackinnon.

I just proved to you it goes both ways.
