What I’m hearing is, the Avs could set a new NHL record this year!
Adam Fox has 0 goals this year lol
“Better than Makar” my sweaty nutsack
I don't think they'll be fine at all. They're both legit NHLers, but neither is the franchise cornerstone they needed when they were selected at the top/near top of their respective draft classes. They're *good*, not great. I don't have hope that either will reach their lofty potential.Laf and Kakko will be fine. The latter would be the third best forward with the Avs on 5v5 points, and they are actually trying him at center now. Turns out his upside might be a #2C after all. Laf is already a top winger, and would be PPG if he was on PP1. There's a reason the Rangers are holding on for these young players, and are trying to shake up the vets.
As for the goaltending with the Avs, I can use the quote from Jeremy Clarkson: "It's like looking through the menu at a Scottish restaurant. Not much in it, and nothing you'd want". Blackwood could be interesting, but I think the Sharks are totally fine with keeping him.
Here's an out of box thought: Matt Murray from the Toronto Marlies. He's cheap, a proven veteran, and #4 in the Leafs depth chart.
If Askarov becomes the superstar he projected to become in his draft year I swear...
I'll forever remember that he was right there, available for cheap, on ELC, and we didn't pay what it takes to get him.
Edit: Button in his final rankings in 2020 had him at 6:
