It's probably the retention and the term remaining that he doesn't like... also the small body of work as far as Gibson's season so far.
I believe Gibson only has 2 more years left on his contract, making 6.4 mill. If Ducks retain 3 mill, we’ll pay Gibson pretty much what we’re paying Georgiev right now. We have to find a goalie next offseason anyway when Georgiev’s contract is up, unless a tragedy happens and CMac resigns him. Get Gibson with that retantion and we’ll have the starter position locked up for couple of more years

If it wasn't for us and Carolina, there wouldn't be a market for Gibson. At his age, he is nobody's goalie of the future, he's only the goalie of those that hope he doesn't suck worse than their current goalie. How much does this actually cost in a trade?

Consider this... Dostal is rocking a 5v5 sv% of .931 and a GAA of 2.35. Yes, Gibson has a better HDSV% but Dostal has him beat on MD and LDSV%. This is not the time to hand the starting duty back to Gibson. This is Dostal's team moving forward. How many teams want a 6.4M backup? Even with retention, a team taking Gibson probably helps the Ducks out a lot more than folks are giving them credit for.

LeBrun gave a Sid update on Overdrive earlier today. Said he's given no indication to anyone around him that he wants out and that's what it would take. Pretty much what any of us figured.
We'll that's not surprising. He's the captain of the team and certainly not going to give up before December rolls around.

But even if he did - I don't think he'd give an 'indication' one way or another so that he'd get peppered by the media about it every single day.

IF he wanted to be moved, my expectation is that it would come out of left field and we'd find out about it after the trade happened.

Did he give an update on the Avs goaltending since his last update on this topic a week ago saying, “Sike, the Avs actually DO hate their goaltending and are looking to improve”?

If the Avs could somehow convince Lumbus to retain about a million I think It'd jump at that. Obvious downside is if Merzlikins couldn't rebuild his game after being mentally broken for so long, but IMO this is the level of desperation the Avs are at now.
Rebuild his game? It was never built. Elvis has never been good in the NHL for any reliable stretch of games

I don't agree with that, prior to the incident in 2021 he was playing like a legit franchise goalie, all the more impressive since the team in front of him wasn't all that great.

Mike Johnson on TSN 1050 Radio about an hour ago during The Dan Patrick Show:

Patrick: “Surely Colorado must be calling anybody and everybody to find a goaltender right now?”

Johnson: “Going against all logic, everything I’m hearing is the opposite. They are not desperate for a move and believe Georgiev is turning a corner. They might wait until the trade deadline to get a more capable backup, but there’s nothing imminent from the Avs side on a goaltending move.”

Dude was top 5 in vezina voting? And had b2b seasons above .916 goaltending?

Nuke killed 2 of our runs, I guess it's time for Cmac to kill this one.

That's fine, the Avs never really tip their hand when it comes to things like this. We didn't really know they were gunning for Mittelstadt and Walker last year, so I'm guessing they're trying their best not to let everyone see them sweat.

If indeed they don't make a change in goal, then yeah I'm all for CMac getting the axe, but I'll reluctantly give him and the Avs the benefit of the doubt. For now.

Whatever the case, this is way better than the five-alarm panic going on in Rangerland at the moment.

The reason Bednar is so pro Georgiev is he knows that his GM doesn't want to trade for a new #1 goalie.

They must really like Hagens, Martone or Schaefer.

I'm standing by my earlier statement that if this team still has 4giev as the starter past the deadline, I'm not even going to bother watching or following any more games until next season

It's just not worth it

Zibanejad sucking is the main reason for all their problems according to Rags fans.
Ha ha ha that's funny. Maybe management deciding they were perfectly fine going with two second-line centers instead of drafting a legit star with their 1st and 2nd overall picks should be the real focus of their ire.

Is it possible that Nabokov can come this year before the playoffs ?

edit: seriously, can't he come.like Kovalenko when his season is done ?

Kovalenko was a turnover machine and looked like a deer caught in the headlights until he was made a healthy scratch.

What are you expecting Nabokov to do?

Absolutely false. The biggest issue is 2nd pairing. Always has been.

And the problem remains, that Bednar simply refuses to try other goalie options. CMac would literally have to get a goalie AND get rid of Georgiev on the same go, and that will cost extra.

We f***ing saw it with Kähkönen already. He was given another option, took one small taste of it and decided to go back to the shitmeal of Georgiev. It's f***ing obvious what this guy thinks when you listen to his tone when talking about Annunen and Georgiev.

It's just a poorly-built team that can only win one way and doesn't get the job done at even strength. Problems are rife on that roster, they just covered it up with goaltending and special teams until now.

At least they're finally realizing that Trouba sucks.

The team didn't win the Presidents Trophy last year relying only on special teams and goaltending. Were they a top team analytically? No, but they were clearly on the better third of the league.
