I don't think we come to that conclusion just yet.
I don't know, something is off. It's pretty visible, and I don't think the language from players at the end of last year really supported this.
To me the organization has a few problems affecting the room and overall team right now.
1. Nuke - He should've been dealt with months ago. The language from everyone at the end of last season really was telling. He's in the lineup because the Avs didn't get anything done here. I know if I worked on a team with an employee like this it would cause issues internally.
2. Landeskog and Leadership - I get that he's important to the team, but this team needs a new leader. The legend of Landy approach is f***ing lame. If he comes back, give it back to him, but for now they need to move on. They need a leader on the ice and in the room. He might come back, he might be effective... but who knows. Keep him involved if you want too, but consider him retired until he proves otherwise.
3. Rantanen - This should've either been done already or they should've traded him last year. It can't feel good as a player to know a top guy might be gone at the end of the year, or that there won't be a suitable replacement.
4. Goaltending - I'm not going to beat this drum to death. Should've been dealt with during last season or at the TDL, or in the off-season, but we're about a year and a half too late on this shit with no options. Figure it the f*** out.
5. GM/Management - Too f***ing slow. Get shit done and quit trying to bandaid everything. You hit some home runs, nice job. Take some risks and get this team the pieces it needs. Quit living on the few home runs you've had and help this team for once before it's too late.
6. Drafting - Get some real people in there. They are awful.
Just gonna put out there the one huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge gamble in goal no one is talking about.
Mind you, even I think it's too risky, but if they can't seem to get Anaheim to budge, then they've gotta consider this as a real possibility.
At this point, i'll applaud them for atleast trying. Walker looked good to start with the Avs, but sucked in the PO's. I appreciated the effort though.
