I just can't help but think we completely f***ed ourselves. Imagine having a healthy Varly the last 6 years? How much does that change the picture? From team needs, to team psychology... I think we would have been better and even tougher to beat. Varly has always been a competitor.

He had so many great saves and performances for us, but my favorite mental image of him was his reaction when angry after a play. He'd push his bucket up on top of his head and just stand there leaning on his stick throwing straight shit lasers from his eyes at whoever offended him.

Varly rules, but that's just it - he was never healthy which is (probably) why they moved on. It made sense.

Now given hindsight etc Varly even playing 30 games a year is better than anything since.

Varly couldn't handle the workload and Grubi beat him out that final year. Varly has been a great 1B for the Isles, but that wouldn't have been his role here.

He had surgery on the hip.and both he and Luongo said takes a full 2 years to.feel.right again.

He had the surgery you're referencing to in Jan 17. He went on to have his arguably 2nd or 3rd best season as an Av the following year. Then in 18-19 he was the starter and eventually lost the net to Grubi... which at the time it was happening (Jan-March) was a full 2 years after his surgery.

Varly's play in New York is centered around having one of the best goalie coaches in the game in Mitch Korn directing things, and then a significantly smaller workload. He's been good there and the ideal 1B, but those results likely don't translate here.

Varlamov struggled his final year in Colorado. He had a stretch of 14 games where he only won twice (2-7-5), which came during a span where neither he nor Grubauer could stop a beach ball (2-5-0). The Avs only made the playoffs after Grubauer got white hot at the end of the year (8-1-2).

ABB can't skate and with his size and (lack of) physicality, he's doomed to be an AHL tweener. A good depth guy, but that's about it.

Husso was sent down and cleared waivers. Just an interesting note that this guy was our forums favorite for us to get when we ended up acquiring Georgiev.

If Costanza got waived today he'd clear waivers too. Don't think it means much. They both suck. We're just desperate for a solution right now

Wonder how we can fit in Gibson and Zegras . Probably need to send big Val the other way , Manson too (that’s just for salary /cap)??

Something has to be done .
Maybe Colton+Georgie if we're keeping Ritchie up and add a bit of health, or if no Ritchie, go for lundestrom+Gibson

Drouin Nate Nuke
Lehky mitts Mikko

I'm sorry, but they need to trade Mikko. I really don't want to watch a shit gutted team with a shit goalie for the next few years while we wait to be able afford depth.

Yeah, maybe if he was willing to take 10, or 11M. 12.5M, 13M bye Felicia.

He's not even running his own line, and I don't feel like Mack needs him.

Mikko vs a Top six wing, the difference between a shit goalie, and a good one, and the ability to keep a strong defense or fill out the middle of the roster.

Just no.. I'd rather it be close and enjoy the hockey I'm watching while Mack and Makar are leading the team.

Mikko is not worth both Landeskog and Nuke on the ice. As an example. 13M
