Rumor: 2024-2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency Talk | The Slow Crawl to the Season

I think he’d do perfectly fine in Bednar’s system, but I don’t think either organization or player is itching for a reunion.

Besides, Preds ain’t trading ROR unless they’re blowing it up and they’re not doing that.
Speaking of Preds...

Smooth skating, puck-moving defenseman that would probably fit in well in Bednar's system.

Might be worth a pickup? What do we think?

I read a bunch of early season Canucks fan responses to Brannstrom and most of them lol’d at whatever dumb team just sent him away for nothing. We don’t want to be that dumb team, so should definitely pick him up

To be fair, a lot of Canucks fans still really like Brännström and think this is a dumb decision. But Tocchet simply doesn't like his game for what he wants the D to look like and play.

No you see, if you ask J.T. Miller, Pettersson is too low in those rankings and needs to give more effort.

If Vancouver would accept Mittelstadt and one of Ritchie/Gulyayev, you make that move in a nanosecond. Hell, I'd throw in a 1st round pick if they would take Miles Wood's contract, too.

That's an easy yes. Tough to make the salaries match up without adding one of the Colton, Manson, Girard, etc types, I think.

Why is no one here talking about Rasmus Andersson? Apparently he's open to being traded and available for a 1st+prospect+ a lesser piece.

His $4.55m caphit is manageable especially with retention, and you know CMac loves to target guys who aren't rentals, which fits since Andersson has one more year after this one. This front office also clearly like to have 5 good Dmen on the blue line judging by the Walker trade to replace Byram last year, so you know they'll want to add a good Damn to the mix.

Yeah the cap would have to be managed in the off-season but imo you go all in with available capspace now, and then figure things out with the cap for next season in the off-season.

Malinski can also be dangled as an obvious part of the trade as a direct replacement for Calgary in the short term. So say something like 1st + Ritchie/Gulyayev + Malinski/B prospect.

Toews - Makar
Girard - Andersson
xxxx - Manson

The bigger need is a 2C. Also, is Andersson going to need PP1 to justify this?

We can't have a 4.5M AAV dman on the 3rd pair, especially not next year.

You know… cap space.

How much cap would those two cost by the TDL?
We haven't been able to accrue capspace all season, we currently have like 2.2M with Landeskog AND Wood on LTIR. We have to send people down to even activate Wood, let alone Landeskog.

Ah, send Colton and Wood together to San Jose.

They get to live in a hot city and get to keep eating each other’s asses.
