GDT: GDT #74 New York Islanders vs Tampa Bay Lightning | April 1st | 7:30 PM | F/4-1 L

MTL and CBJ won, should end any realistic hope. Doubt it happens but hopefully we see some young guys up here for the final handful of games
Should call up a few young guys at this point. The guys I hope to never see in an Islanders sweater again after this year: Fasching, Maclean, Duclair, Pageau, Pulock and Pelech. But most importantly - hope to see Lou shown the door for assembling this mess of a roster

Been a shit season and just keeps getting shitter with six losses on trot.
Pelech on track for a goalless season.
As is Fasching.
Sorokin not much chop these days.
Dobson a lost cause.
Horvat is a good player, he is not a winner though.
That third period looked like a team with zero interest in being there.
Not sure Roy is much chop. The specials teams, selections and even goalie pulls have been dismal.

Roy’s guy!

I can't hate him, he's been a good story. and he clearly tries. He's just not good enough. There are plenty more blokes who deserve criticism than him IMO.
Agreed - I don't hate him, but I absolutely hate seeing him on the ice. For me, it's between him and Duclair for the guys that bother me the most. I should probably hate Duclair more since he gets paid more and doesn't seem to exert any effort at all, whereas Fasching tries, he's just nowhere near NHL talent.

He was a good story two seasons ago, he barely tries. He’s probably an animal in small area games for practice and corner drills. Has as many points as Trevor Gillies in his 30 game season.

I can’t watch him

Roy slammed Duclair after game. Deserved I would say.
But one wonders how much support Roy has in the room, not a lot of guys seems to be digging deep for him. Dobson a prime example
Agree. And does make me wonder if he’s even back next year.

If his name wasn’t Patrick Roy and if he didn’t coach immediately after Lane Lambert would Islanders fans like him? Some pods I listen to and posts online ooze love for him. I don’t have it, at all

Glad Roy called him out - but if he has any balls, he'd be benching Duclair for the rest of the season. If Roy is expecting to be back next season, he really needs to start sending a message.

Barry Trotz might be the greatest coach of all time. I’m not joking.

He made Pelech into the best defensive dman in the league. Pulock was a monster.

Team had a lead and it was game over.

I understand we don’t have Brock or Barzal but the vets shouldn’t look this bad.

We need to seriously retool.

I still believe Roy is a really good coach but he needs to have a better team in front of him.

We’ve said it so many times but this cold core has run its course. I Love Lee and think there’s probably not a guy with more character than him but I’d take advantage of his great year and sell him on the draft. With 1 year remaining it can happen. Trade Pelech and Pulock.

Get rid of McClean and let Roy pick his new assistant.

Trotz proved that defense is all about buy in and how you play. We went from worst in goals against to best in 1 year. That’s insane. It can be done.

The Isles are an undermanned team that even when healthy had trouble defending. Since Los Angeles they looked line their tank was empty. They’ve got nothing left to give.

I don’t think Roy is a good tactician but I thought the team kept playing for him. He deserves another year with a healthy team.

It’s one thing they lose but it’s how they lose. The disappearing act is getting tiring. Some of these vets have been there and know how to win. Just give us fans an honest 60 minutes and the losing wouldn’t suck as much, hell they might even get an extra win or two. I don’t know when or how this team lost the ability to do the little things to win.

Has this team played a full 60 minutes since trotz left?

Good luck getting rid of those guys. Those contracts are awful. Likely going to take assets to get rid of them.

I can’t believe Lou has a job. This is pathetic. 8 years on the job and this is the product.
If the cap wasn’t going up it would be a lot harder but the Pelech and Pulock contracts will not look so bad anymore once other players in the league start getting paid a lot more. A 5.75mill cap hit will not look so bad in 1-2 years.

but Pelech & Pulock look bad NOW.....quite bad.

I gotta say I am not sure I have ever seen a coach go off to that extent publicly about a single player. I am not saying I disagree with what Roy said or that what he said is not true, but to call a player "god awful" publicly and question is effort is pretty unheard of. My biggest issue is if he can say stuff that strong about Duclair, where are his thoughts on Pageau and Pelech and Dobson? Because if Duclair is god awful, I don't even know what you could say about those three.
