they're out nowWhen Seattle falls out of the playoff race, I would love to target Gourde. Pair him with Colton on the 3rd line.
Why not. That would be a such a gift if he didn't fall off like LOC does.
I think LOC is who he is going to be. I'm not expecting much change from him.Yeah, forsbergavs and I were recently discussing how he seems pretty comfortable with time and space at the NHL to the point where he shows some playmaking creativity. He could hit a wall or he could improve also?
Blackwood wants a payday, as to be expected. Interesting that they talked about Kovy last year. Sharks seemed to have really wanted him.Grier says CMac called him with an offer he couldn't refuse
Grier explains why Sharks couldn't refuse Avs' trade for Blackwood

Now, the part that no one here should like:
"If this was two years from now, would probably be a different story. He'd be not someone to be looking to move on from, but the fact that he's a UFA, and to his credit, he probably outplayed his way out of here too, for what he's gonna earn. Speaking with his agent and everything, what he's going to be looking for, and what he's rightfully earned as a UFA to make. I hope he gets what he's looking for.
"We had a conversation about, just in general, what he'd be looking for. And like I said, he probably played his way out of what we would be looking for, especially, he's going to want some term. He hasn't had some term, and he's going to want some money. It's his first chance to make money. And every player, if they get to that point where they can be unrestricted, that's up to them and it's more power to them. They should try and earn as much money as they can.
"He's earned this. He's played really well for us for two years. Hopefully goes there and plays really well. Does well when the summer comes."
The thing is Avs aren't a fan of UFA goalies that want a payday, as seen with Kuemper, Grubauer and Varly.Blackwood wants a payday, as to be expected. Interesting that they talked about Kovy last year. Sharks seemed to have really wanted him.

So if Blackwood does well here he's probably gone and were back to square one next summer.

Very true, maybe they finally invest long term in the position for a change? would be nice not having this goalie conversation every 2-3 yearsThe thing is Avs aren't a fan of UFA goalies that want a payday, as seen with Kuemper, Grubauer and Varly.

True. The good news is we may have a very motivated goalie for the rest of the year. The thing is Avs aren't a fan of UFA goalies that want a payday, as seen with Kuemper, Grubauer and Varly.

Highly doubt they're trying to trade Nuke. For all his issues, he's been the Avs best forward since returning and is a huge part of the team. I don't think he's going anywhere unless he slips up again and is gone for a year and likely terminated.
If Mackenzie Blackwood plays so well that he prices himself out of Colorado it sounds like a successful move to me.
This doesn't really change much for me. A lot of fluff talk by Grier. They traded for their goalie of the future in Askarov, so of course they're not going to go ahead and sign up Blackwood to some sort of pseudo-starter deal on top of that.Grier says CMac called him with an offer he couldn't refuse

Alternatively, if Blackwood plays so well that the Avs feel they need to commit long term, that’s a good sign too
I trade MansonSerious question, Blackwood back stops us to a deep run, and gets some Vezina love. *I will not jinx shit lol.
You're staring down having to choose between keeping Blackwood and Drouin, or paying Mikko.
What do you do?
I trade Manson
No LandeskogFair, is that really enough to fit Mikko, Drouin, Landeskog, and a starter salary in, 6Mish?
No Landeskog
No Landeskog
Yea the fact that we currently have 0 cap space for him tells me that he's not coming back this year and next year it's just too late.It actually hurts my heart to stop and reflect that his last game may have been lifting the Stanley Cup.
Yes, incredible way to go out if you have to, but going from the very pinnacle of the sport to never being able to play again. Pain. Pain. Pain.
