I don't think he's going to be back in time to know we don't need a 3C if you want to keep Colton at wing, but I also don't know how they afford that. You'd have to pay through the nose, and get retention while also sending out the assets for a defender.

It will be interesting to see if they can actually solve the two issues in a meaningful way.

I’d give Ivan a try at 3C. He might hit a wall at some point though.

If we can get healthy and stay healthy I think we could be fine with Ivan as 3C

Lehk - Mack - Drouin
Nuke - Mitts - Mikko
Colton - Ivan - LOC
Wood - Kelly - Kivi

If the Avs were concerned about cap space even a little bit don’t you think they’d offer up another late round pick or shitty prospect or something to San Jose to avoid the retention? Not to mention the Sharks should also prefer an additional late round pick that saving a couple hundred grand for the rest of this year.

Whether it’s Landy, Manson, or some combination of others I definitely think the Avs already have a plan for scheduling their LTIR around a late season addition or else I think Cmac and Grier would have cleaned up this transaction just a litttle more.

I think there’s a big difference being a center and a winger in terms of the skating required, especially in our own zone.

The C is working the down low trio on the cycle, constant changes of movement and covering the whole zone. The winger is generally responsible for covering his D and a much smaller area of ice.

That stuff takes a toll over time.
This is where the time off can become a complete unkown.

Landy hasn't skated hard in 2 years. He's also not been hit in two years. Every single little thing that adds up and bother players over their careers should be completely non-factors for Gabe moving forward. He's just had 2 years to heal every single little issue. I agree, he won't be the same Landy he was prior, but that is also why I am optimistic he can handle 3rd line duties. The minutes will be less...they may be more important but there will be less of them.

Also... we are talking about Gabriel f***ing Landeskog. Who am I to sell him short?

To see LOC on the 4th line in the playoffs would be spectacular. Shades of that Cogs/Helm LOC 4th line.

I like that bottom 6. Kelly is a little meh but I like how you have some offensive finish with Colton and Kiviranta with the two speedy agents of chaos in Wood and OConnor.

Ludvig is probably the next to go in one way or another, but I bet he's talking about the snow man

Highly doubt they're trying to trade Nuke. For all his issues, he's been the Avs best forward since returning and is a huge part of the team. I don't think he's going anywhere unless he slips up again and is gone for a year and likely terminated.
