Do not want to spend assets on a defensemen who is struggling to get into the lineup over a 37 year Jack Johnson.

I honestly would rather have JMFJ back to pair with Malinski.

if the Habs look to cash in on Matheson while his value’s at his highest what does he cost? Better yet what does a Matheson + Jake Evans package cost? Ritchie ++?

We don't need Matheson.

Jake Evans yes of course but they have to re-up him...he's their only reliable center outside of Suzuki. He started the season on the 4th line and he's now on their 2nd line.

Just do

M. Pettersson at 50% for Kylington + picks/prospects
J. Evans for picks/prospects

Drouin - Mack - Lehky
Nuke - Mitts - Moose
RosCo - Evans - LOC
Wood - Kelly - Kova
Kivi

Makar - Toews
G - Manson
Petterson - Malinski
CDH/Ludvig

If the Avs want to trade for valuable players, said picks/prospects are going to need to be valuable in return.

What readily available picks/prospects do people think are so valuable, that they're going to return players like Petterson or Crosby? Especially with retention?!?

Public service announcement: The Avs have no 1st or 3rd round picks in the upcoming 2025 draft.

I mean.... They have a 2nd. A 2025 2nd would get either of those deals you quoted above.

They also do have 2026 and 2027 1sts. They have more then enough assets to pull off the deals you quoted above. Easily.

And as for Crosby, if he were to get traded(Which I think we all know is a 1% probability of happening), he's only getting traded to one single destination, Colorado. We're not about to bid against ourselves at that point. He'll fetch a decent return but its not gonna be nearly as much as most people think.

Something like Ritchie + 2026 1st would be a reasonable base.

While that is logical, we also know the Avs have historically found a way to get their guy, even if that's well past their prime.

That was also before Drouin arrived and before trading for Mittelstadt.

The top 6 is full. Lehkonen isn't dropping down to the 3rd line.

I would have to imagine that a $6m+ forward is one of the last things the Avs would target, unless it was Crosby who would be a unique case where we're the only suitor.

Not disagreeing with you at all, just tossing a name out there. Plus, this teams management doesn't always do the logical thing.

Probably not... But Lehky on the 3rd line would be a matchup nightmare.

Yea our top 6 is quite frankly nearly perfect. The only spots we need to upgrade are 1G, 4C and perhaps 6D.

$6.5m AAV for Kreider is criminal behavior.

His 33 year old body is close to falling apart.
Man that neck alone would be like
