If there’s retention involved they will be prohibited from doing that.I think the key to getting Crosby is a gentleman's agreement to trade him back to Pittsburgh at the end of the contract.
he can go back when he wants to retire.I think the key to getting Crosby is a gentleman's agreement to trade him back to Pittsburgh at the end of the contract.
I'm not too surprised the Avs would target Miller, or that Miller would prefer to go to New York, where he knew he'd fit in the locker room.
I am a bit surprised though the Nucks were willing to trade him to the Avs. Would be more surprised if they were willing to trade EP to the Avs. Hope that's not the case. I don't see them retaining enough for it to make sense for the Avs.
Also, I agree with others, I have a lot of respect for Lavoie, but I don't see CMac making the Mikko move specifically for Miller, without the Miller deal being done.
More likely they were planning on moving Mikko anyway, and needed the cap savings for something anyway, and didn't want to risk Necas going somewhere else, since he's one of the few high end players available that could help replace Mikko, and they probably knew he was a great stylistic fit.

Unfortunately, it seems like the key to Sid agreeing to be traded to the Avs, would be the Avs moving to Pittsburgh, and changing their name to the Penguins. He's made it pretty clear he wants to be a Pens lifer.
I just don't see how they could put together six defensemen that expensive, spend the resources necessary to get retention on all of them, AND ice a deep-enough forward corps.
Don't get me wrong, getting a halfway-decent third pairing would be a dream. I just don't see it happening to this extent.
Okay, maybe they could, but not easily, let alone "very" easily.
You’d need Ivan’s salary back up? Or roughly thatNo like, they actually really easily could. They have $4.8M in cap space today. Taking Jones at full cap hit would mean adding about $3.7M. That's it. Literally Colton or Mittelstadt going out in the deal would make the cap work quite easily.
And again as outlined in this thread, nobody is touching him at full cap hit. It's more likely if the Avs get him its at $7-7.5M. Meaning we only need to create about $1.5-2M in space. Not sure we even need to move anyone at all to make it work.
And next year we quite frankly are swimming in cap space.
I can see it nowWe've never remotely seen Cmac get played where there is an important part left out.
I mean, he literally held Chicago blind, and they gladly took it lol. They just knew the return for Hall and an amount of money they were retaining. That's it..
No Cmac definitely didn't get screwed by hopes and trust thrown Bitch ass Miller's way. I'm happy it didn't happen. That dude is a complete shit stain. If I ever met him I'd instantly clock his ass just for fun.
And I'd very much enjoy whatever happened next.
Fake warrior
Let's just be clear. I do not believe the Avs are considering what a player is going to be doing five years from now.If this is true, that means the Avs are willing take on Jones at ~7-7.5 per year for the next five years. They must really like him, the "kid" is already 30...
But I can't lie
Toews - Makar
Girard - Jones
Would be pretty f***ing nice for the next few years. If only they had a second line center....
Geesh.. sounds like we "barely" escaped making a HUGE f'in mistake.Wow. And it's from Lavoie so you know it's true. The Avs had a deal in place for JT Miller when they traded Rants but Miller blocked the trade.

Crosby has 2 more years on his contract. If we get him this year, there is a good chance we will win at least one cup with him before his contract is up, then he can just simply sign a one year deal with the Pens and retire thereI think the key to getting Crosby is a gentleman's agreement to trade him back to Pittsburgh at the end of the contract.
Colton won’t waive a full NTC for Chicago.
You’re also expecting Vancouver to retain 50% on Boeser for the remainder of the year? Not sure if they need to do that, there would be plenty of suitors.
