I know the eye test and metrics support this for certain stretches but from a pure production standpoint I am not sure we can expect more than 40 to 50 pts with no meaningful power play time. Him and Colton were getting power play time which buyoed their production. Mitts had 8 pp points before Nov 9 and only two since, added to his already concerning drought/confidence. For Colton 5 of his 9 pts were on the pp and has only had 7 points since returning none on the power play. This coinceded with health but also a horrendous pp before the Rants trade. This certainly plays into the perception of these players.
I completely agree. An additional winger would be a luxury addition. They need to focus on 2RHD and 2C (if Mittelstadt doesn't show improvement) before they add another winger. A 3LHD would arguably be more important too but if they move a forward (eg. Wood/Colton) to make room for Jones then another forward would be a must.
I agree with that. Just think a RHS would nicely balance the 3rd line. Bjorkstrand and Anderson are two names that intrigue me on Frank's list, and are both guys the Avs have ties with and prior interest in to varying degrees.I still think a middle six RW would be good, ideally a right shot. Just curious on everyone's thoughts to what degree it matters that we don't have a lot of natural RWs. Parsnip has typically been C or LW, Nuke before he came here played LW, same with Lehky, Drouin, Colton etc. I don't think its a huge impact based on the system and how certain players play (Nuke, Lehky) but on the breakout angle to the ice and goal matters to some degree, stick positioning for board battles among other things. Thoughts? I feel like an over abundance of LW and a potential Landy return is why they need to move Colton and Wood so other players can play their more natural positions

All of this is true but that wasn't the point of my post. The point was to reduce Makar's minute. Jones is very good on the PK so our PK should still do very well but now you would have a fresher Makar when he is playing 5v5 and in the 3rd period.

3.25 next year for a 3rd pairing guy would be a little tough to handle. I think there are better options available for the left side.

If Manson gets pushed down to 3RHD they need to go cheap at 3LHD, and with Manson on the right they'd probably prefer to have more of a puck moving type at 3LHD which is the easiest position to fill. They could even give Behrens a shot though I suspect he'll need plenty of time in the AHL to get back up to game speed first. Anyways, point is that spending $3.25m is probably a bit excessive for that position given how easy it is to fill it.
