Rumor: 2024-2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency Talk | Part Deux

Oh no, they ain't doin' that. Larkin and Seider would likely be the very last guys they deal away.

If they had the cap space they should be all over JTM, or Petty, but they don't, nor do they have the flexibility.

Let's sign two overpaid 3Cs instead of actually getting a 1C or 2C lol.

Dumbasses, rush to the dance, crash and burn, miss the dance all together.

Mittelstadt really that bad that he has to go or else there's zero hope for a formidable 2nd line? Wasn't he one of the best 2C's in the league for the better part of last season and the beginning of this season? Could this just be a slump and now he's starting to work his way out of it with these past few games showing improvement already? When there was an uproar over replacing Ryan Johanssen and how badly it needed to happen i understood because he was truly that detrimental. But i don't view this as being nearly as dire of a situation. I think with a healthy Nuke and a potential further addition at the TDL(plus maybe even Landy too) the overall forward depth should be fine IMO.

Mitts is a solid two way 50-60 point middle six tweener.

The problem is, this place was talked into thinking he was a better player than he is, with daily repetitive narratives for months/years, from people who were simultaneously huge Mitts stans, and Byram haters since they were drafted.

For some reason people still think a month or two of good play is more representative of who he is than his entire career. He's been an inconsistent 50-60 point middle six tweener his entire career.

His career high is 59 points in 82 games. Last year he scored at a 58 point pace. Those have been his best two career seasons, and one came in a contract year. There's nothing to support he's a better player other than hope.

Right now everyone thinks he's been so much worse than what they were expecting, but he's scoring at a 50 point pace. This would be his 3rd best season in the NHL.

He'll probably pick it up a bit at some point and end with around 60 points again on the season. This is who he is.

Wing is the one position the Avs don't need and they should be using their assets to upgrade at C and/or D but what do people think about the rat out in Boston? Would your opinion change if you knew Landeskog isn't coming back? Just curious.

It was just some reckless speculation and a throwaway comment by Chris Johnston on his pod but when talking about Crosby and the Avs needing another piece he said, "everyone's focused on Crosby but what happens if the Bruins move Brad Marchand and you're linking up those two Nova Scotia boys?"

He also said he could see the Avs take a "decent sized" swing at the TDL with the extra ammunition they have now.

I'm ok with it so long as you don't re-sign him. Pending UFA and I think the decline is in full swing. This may be his last good season and it's not even that good as he's only on pace for 61 points.

Serviceable but not top end which you’d have to pay a lot more for. Still, I think it was the right move even though I was one of Byram’s fans. His position on the Avs was blocked. I give CMac credit for trying to improve the team. He’s not as patient and deliberate as Sakic but the context of the team’s competitiveness has changed as they’re now in the midst of their contention window. I still think 2C comes after solidifying the D as a priority.

What's done is done, and we don't need to relitigate things, but I don't agree with the idea Byram's position was blocked, or that he needed to be a top pair guy.

At 22 at the time, they had plenty of time to figure things out.

He could have taken over for Towes at some point. Toews may have been traded down the line for cap space. He could have supplanted Girard. Girard could have been traded at some point for cap space. They could have kept all the D men with the cap jumps coming up, especially with a Mikko trade, and it potentially could have played the way it did in the Cup year, since it was basically the same D core with the same 5 guys.

Lots of options. It was a panic trade that hasn't worked out liked hoped, but for long time fans we've seen this before. The Drury and ROR trades didn't work out liked hoped. Avs lost Forsberg, Foote, Tanguay, and now Mikko to the cap.

The question now is what do they do moving forward? Do they build around Mitts to improve the team that way, or do they package him to improve 2C?

We swept the Edmonton super team with JTC as a 2C. Is Mitts really so bad that we can't just roll with him and not saddle ourselves with a bad contract?

Our best players were in their prime with max. Hunger for a win and it was a super deep team. Yes JTC was meh and our goaltending but it's tough to have that same hunger that team had. They absolutely dominated every opponent. Gave no chance.

This team did get a bit younger with Necas, which is a good thing.

Mitts just has to play and compete harder. We don’t necessarily need a PPG 2C. Right now Mitts is on 50 point pace I believe, that’s not great but it’s not terrible either, it’s just that we can’t have a 2C taking days off and not competing, specially in the playoffs

Mitts still needs to continue the prophecy of leaving Buffalo and you win the Stanley Cup. He will do it. The curse is too strong to break..

Ultimately health will once again determine this teams fate. If they’re as close to 100% as possible when it matters most…this is still the most dangerous team in the entire league IMO. The highest ceiling. Especially if there are additional upgrades.

Kadri played 3 of the four games. The third game that he missed most of we were on the power play most of the game anyway.

The pride of Mount Brydges, Ontario… standing 6’4”, weighing 215 pounds… three straight 20+ goal seasons… speed, physicality, defensive prowess, big shot, net front and board demon…

…LAWSON CROUSE makes me feel some sort of way.

Dream acquisition. I’ve always loved how he plays.

If you're getting Lawson Crouse, I want Mathieu Olivier and demand that they play together

The contract year thing may be real with Mittelstadt. He played great last season to earn a raise, and a bit in his first season, then taken his foot off the gas.
