I wonder if the Avs could pry Simon Nemec out of New Jersey by offering a straight up trade for Cal Ritchie.

Dougie Hamilton has 3 more years, Pesce has 5 more years, and they have Seamus Casey coming up as another RHD.

They've got guys like Haula, Tatar, Noesen, Lazar, Dowling, etc who are all 30+ and some of them above 35 soon. I don't think they're swimming with forward prospects.

That could allow the Avs to move Manson easily.

Is not having Simon Nemec the reason the Avs have been playing like this all year?

Go get someone who can have an impact on how the team plays. Either that or get a new coach.

Send Mitts to Vancouver

I don't want to get all hysterical trade his ass like, but I just can't help but feel that Rantanen's next contract is going to be a disaster. Sure, the cap is rising, and sure, in 3+ years it likely won't matter anyway, but I think he is going to be someone who regresses early and hard.

Your first point has nothing to do with what I said lol. Ritchie isn't here either so it makes no difference.

I'm thinking about next year. Not only do I not think Ritchie is a Bednar-style player should Bednar remain, but adding Nemec would allow for a cheap RHD and to move Manson while looking for a cheaper, left hand version of Manson for the 3rd pair.

Rants' stats are like the Avs stats in the last 12 games: a smoke show.

If you pay full price for that you deserve what's coming.

If the Devils trade Nemec, it's to go "big game hunting" as their GM Tom Fitzgerald has called it. They would have no interest in a prospect for prospect trade.

I highly doubt that the Hawks are doing all that scouting for a guy like Ivan. He played a whopping 3 minutes today.

A guy like Mitts though, I think it could be a possibility. No trade protection and the Avs might need the cap space for another top 6 center that is on the market.

I’m not going to get into the personal side of things because I’ve learned that nobody (myself included) likely has any idea of what exactly is going on in the personal lives of those Vancouver guys but it’s hard to watch Mittelstadt play a game like he just did while knowing JT Miller is available and the cost is like Mittelstadt, Malinski and a 1st.

I'm under the impression Miller will only waive for the east coast teams.

Once upon a time guys like Paul Kariya and Teemu Selanne took group discounts to sign with us. Now disgruntled forwards being kicked out of their second club won't even waive to come to us.

I seriously doubt that's a factor.

No way do the Canucks want to hand a top six center to the Avs for cheap. And it just appears that Miller wants to play for the Rangers, and failing that, someplace close to NY.

Nothing about Denver or the city's hockey market attracted Kariya and Selanne.

Playing with Sakic, Roy, Blake, Foote, Forsberg, etc. and a GM like Pierre Lacroix is what attracted them. The chance to win a Stanley Cup attracted them.

Can you look at this team and say "yep, that's where I'd want to be if I was an NHL superstar?"

Would be a shrewd move if all the Chicago scouting is for Mittlestadt. Cmac could recoup some assets and turn it around for a real 2C.

I'll be honest, I think the guy is the primadonna of all primadonnas and his effort is nowhere near his reputation.

That said, I make that deal in a nanosecond. Throw in Kylington to send even more cap their way.

I just don’t know who the Avs would be targeting on the Blackhawks, unless they’re selling Mitts for futures
I know his contract is obviously insane but the Avs have been in on Seth Jones before. If there’s any type of retention + return money possibility you bet your ass they’re checking in on it.

I just don't see why the Hawks would send their GM to scout a 4th liner in his first NHL season. It makes zero sense
