Rumor: 2024-2025 Trade Rumors and Free Agency Talk | Part Deux

Since when do insiders ever know anything about the Avs. No one saw the biggest NHL trade in decades coming. So I don't believe these insiders when they throw around names in relation to the Avs.
That's not true, Seravalli said a month earlier that Carolina was trying hard to get Rantanen.

Also when the Avs offer Mitts around, other GM's talk.

Except for the guy who said the Avs would trade him if they couldn’t get him signed.
Yep. Lavoie. And got laughed at on this board...just like Frank when he linked Rants to the Canes.

Zegras is a pretty clear risk. But Bednar is damn good at getting the best out of highly talented players. I would hope Bedsy has some input on whether he would want Zegras or not. But I would imagine Bednar would get great use out of him. Again all the players Bednar has coached with Zegras' talent have had either career years here or clearly hit what would be expected of their realistic potential. Again there's certainly risk involved there, but I'd rather take the risk on Zegras' upside than Zacha or the corpse of ROR/Nelson.

I've been a big proponent on getting Zegras. He was unfairly being donned as a generational talent when the hype was at an all time high. His value is at lowest. Get him under the wing of Mackinnon and see what he can do.

I'd feel this way if it wasn't for the skating concern.

Can we just apply this same logic to Barzal instead lol?

Zegras is a habitual soft floater who scores one of two really pretty goals a year and is good in the shootout. Zegras is everything everyone hates about the way mitts is playing right now with the odd between the legs goal or Michigan attempt tossed in there.

I guess at the end of the day if that’s all you can realistically get for mits I suppose you do it just hoping that a change of scenery changes it, but as someone who has watched Zegras a ton, I can almost promise you this trade would put us in the exact same spot

You could say the same thing about Bura when we acquired him. I was vehemently against getting Bura because he was soft, inconsistent bad defensively etc. And then he proceeded to buy into the system and was actually very very good here. Like I said, Bednar should have input on Zegras and if he thinks he can make it work. But of all the known available options I’d take the risk on Zegras.

Insanely different scenarios.

Burakovsky was a middle-six winger for this club, Zegras would have the expectation of playing 2C behind MacKinnon.

Bednar had others in front of Burakovsky to play/trust especially after Lehkonen arrived. Zegras wouldn't have that luxury and if he's a lemon, it's Parker Kelly at 2C time.

There is literally nothing that makes sense.

Bura also had shown some chops in the playoffs, and wasn't on a bad contract.

He got laughed at because it was hysterical. He suggested Rantanen for Zibanejad, which was both insanity and proof he didn't know dick.

Burakovsky could also occasionally backcheck and wasn't paid 5+ million. Kadri is a more realistic option than Zegras and he's not happening, give up this pipe dream boys.

You're talking about Lavoie's comments, right? That was the trade he suggested when he made the comments about Rantanen. It was completely out of touch.
People here gave him shit for saying the Avs would trade Rantanen before the deadline if they had no deal in place. That's all. No Zibanejad stuff.
