TRAIN ROLL ONFire her up boys. The train is back on.
You answered your own questions in your first sentence. We're at risk of finishing 9th. Which means we're still just as likely finish above that, ie in the playoffs. Why would we not tank when we are at risk of finishing 9th….
When we rid of our 100pt center.
When pay a 11.6 mil player producing like a 3rd liner.
When our best D player is injured probably remainder of the season and whom will leave in 2 years.
Anyone logical and not blinded by ego would be suggesting tank route or something similar.
I recall liking a kid by the name of Carter bear. His stats are insane level for a team that plays the trap. But he’s more like 20s guy so I don’t really know much.Aaanyways. Who are some targets in the middle of the 1st?
We could still pick 5thOk, so what's the highest we could reasonably pick here?
"No team in our position would let a Quinn Hughes type player get fully healthy and risk missing out on some delicious playoff revenue!I don’t know anything about his exam findings or how he’s doing, but man, I hope we aren’t going to put Hughes at risk of injuring himself further by playing him vs the Flames…
…it just feels like their could be some pressure from higher up to get him into the lineup so we can get that #8 playoff spot.
Maybe that’s just my paranoia.
YEAH! Get out of here with your old boys club logic. We are progressive with our thoughts here. You answered your own questions in your first sentence. We're at risk of finishing 9th. Which means we're still just as likely finish above that, ie in the playoffs.
In the real world teams don't tank in that position. They just don't.
If we were sitting where the kraken, preds etc were sure I'd be screaming tank while wearing my conductor hat driving the choo choo tank train down the tracks. The team has 2 games in hand on the blues and has been trading back and forth with the Flames for a while.
Yeah they might get in and get knocked out in the first but no gm, owner, player etc is throwing in the towel where the Canucks are.
And yeah this is the tank thread, I'll kindly show myself out.
Once Lekkerimaki and Willander graduate out of the pool. You probably aren't going to replace them with the first and second rounder this year. The Canucks will most likely drop in prospect pool rankings. Down in the standings with no plan in place.I've heard a lot of discouraging reports about the 2025 draft.
But I find it interesting that the Canucks were willing to deal away almost all their picks in the 2024 draft; but have kept all this picks this season. They've even replaced the third rounder they previously traded with a pickup of San Jose's third rounder via the Soucy trade with the Rangers.
So clearly their scouts feel there's some good players available in the early rounds of the June draft. Their prospect pipeline needs all the help it can get.
