The Quiet Corner
@Gordoff we listened to WBZ - Dave Maynard with Don Batting(sp?) doing the news, Don Kent the weather & Joe Green with the traffic report in the mornings, Larry Justice in the afternoons & Larry Glick after midnight but then they went all talk all the time. Ugh. Although I did enjoy listening to Peter Meade & David Brudnoy from time to time, they had some interesting guests.

I once had a Glick University T-Shirt.

No idea what happened to it.

How many free colonoscopy visits and packets of Gatorade will it take to get Draisaitl? :sarcasm:

Edmonton loses in 4 in Finals v Bruins in 6 in round 2

To me win the Cup or one round

Emotions, time, and money invested just get stronger as proceed

I would hate being swept in finals

Bruins could have won that series if they capitalized on their scoring chances; they just couldn't put the puck in the net. It's hard not to think what could have been if the Bruins didn't string the Leafs along for 7 games.

What are their tradable assets, really? Not that you'd trade them, but they have value to other teams.

Lohrei
Poitras
2025 1st
Ullmark
Maybe Coyle or Frederic?

That's not a lot to work with when the most valuable assets are guys they need in the lineup now. That basically leaves 3 options, overpay in free agency (Lindholm), get a depreciated asset someone else wants gone (Zegras), or go for lower end players (Granlund). I don't think Ullmark gets them more than a mid-late 1st when he holds all the cards, no Necas, no 7th or 10th overall. Lindholm in this context doesn't look that bad.

Late in game 6 with score tied 1-1 McAvoy came in and cut right across and Bob somehow made save and likely force game 7

Regardless the Panthers have a Cup worthy roster - their top 6 F are a diverse group that blend skill and grit/over the top (but I would be fine with it if my team)

Barkov
Tkachuk
Bennett
Verhague
Reinhart
Lundell (love him)

This is where it’s at

Bruins had their crap moments but they stood up to Panthers the best I’ve seen so for

Fox getting hurt against Capitals were a killer and he was seriously reduced against Panthers but that’s the playoffs and did Bruins in year before- and made Florida road kill verse Vegas

I would put Zacha on that list for sure. Frederic and Coyle are definitely not maybe . And Geekie is a yes. And of course McAvoy ((before July 1) and Carlo

Not saying I have any interest in dealing most or any of the above, but they all have real value in a deal.

Florida is just hard to play against, look at Oilers scorers and they cannot capitalize.

Going to repost this from the other thread since it was closed down shortly after I posted:

What kind of contract would folks be willing to offer a winger whose in his mid 20' (25-27) that has only played in roughly 50% of possible games the last 3 seasons, but when he's played he's shown he could be a guy that could be roughly a 30+ goal / 70+ point guy if he could manage to play all 82 games?

Just say the guys name

Only Barkov and Ludell drafted by Florida.

Bennett 4th overall.

Remember when Reinhart was considered a bust and Panthers were fools for giving up a first-round draft pick for him?
My bad on Bennett - crazy that they ended up with 3 of the top 4 picks from that draft.

Remember when Bennett couldnt do a pull up before the draft?

When you can combine skill and grit at the same time with many of your best players, you have a better chance at winning than not.

Definitely a really good built team that has bought in to their coach's system. I thought the Oilers and their forwards' speed would cause problems for Florida's defense, but it seems that the Oilers' defense has been their Achilles' heel. Florida's forecheck has been outstanding throughout the playoffs.

Fk the Panthers! Any team that needs the assistance of the NHL to get through the playoffs, is not a good team!.

Okay pretend time . Let’s say oilers lose in 4. Draisaitl is pissed and requests trade, won’t resign.

Does Edmonton add Nurses horrible contract into the mix when shipping out Leon?

Oilers defence is horrible. Nurse gets paid 9.5 a year and he's never impressed me. Even less now.
Oiler offence feels they need to pass the puck 400 times before taking a shot on the pp. Reminds me of another team.... hmmmmm🤔

Nice part is game 4 will be this weekend and I'll likely be busy doing other things to watch.... thankfully.🧹

Impossible to answer without knowing who the player is.

If he's only played 50% of possible games over the last three years, he may be eligible to sign a contract with performance bonuses. (depends on when he missed those games).

And I would absolutely take a flier on a player in that situation. But, Need. More. Info.

My first thought was Laine.
