My concern when we drafted Barlow was that he matured much earlier than his peers and they would catch up to him. Of course I hope I was 100% wrong.
The strange thing is he is still playing against the same cohort and is still more physically mature than many of his opponents. Yet, he isn't scoring. Even when he's been "hot" in his last 12 games, he only has 12 points in those games. I was never high on him as a prospect, but he is so far below the level he should be at, and even below where he was last year, that it's hard to explain.

Funny how the team's social media was promoting the McGroarty - Barlow bromance at development camp two years ago and now we have like 6 or 7 prospects out-performing both of them. Life comes at you fast! It also emphasizes that we have a pretty nice group of prospects developing.

Similiar concerns about barlow however moving to a new team we should discount the slow start. He needs to keep scoring and continue to pick it up up the pace. There have been lots of 50 goal scorers from junior turn out to be duds as pros. He as time, lets hope he keeps building his game.

I don't see it the same way. Barlow had a slow start after holding out for a trade and missing camp and the first few games of the season. He had 0 points in his first six games but has played well since then, he leads Oshawa in shots and power play goals, and he's fourth on the team in goals overall and rapidly rising up that list. He's on the top line playing with Beckett Sennecke and producing well now. He hasn't gotten hot yet. When he does, everyone will know. He is what he is, a pure goal scorer. He's never going to be a grinder or playmaker, that's just not his game.

Barlow has a long way to go as a prospect. He is not such a "pure goal scorer" that he will be able to survive in the NHL with nothing else to add to his game.

I think we should be worried about Barlow as a prospect. His production fell off in his D+1 season and now is nosediving in his D+2 season and we are seeing nothing else develop in his game. He is playing mostly against kids younger than him now in the OHL and should be a force.

Yeah, he'd be my main trade chip at the deadline if some teams still see potential in him.
