Prospect Info: 2024-2025 Rangers Prospects Thread (Prospect Stats and Info in Post #1; Updated 3.23.25)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

I think if he wants to jump Fortescue signs. He's played two world's made one NCAA final (this year is pending) and would be coming back to a team that is not likely to be as good without Leonard and Perrault.
Hagens could be gone too.

Lamb let him stay one more year. The hope is he can develop into a competent sidekick who can hit 20 goals as unlikely as that is.
I think they try to sign him. His drop off in the 2nd half might have been due to changes in usage.

He had 20 points in the first 20 games, with 9 of those points coming on the man advantage. In the final 18 games, not only did he not have any points on the PP, but he only had 2 shots total on the PP.

I don't have access to a TOI breakdown, but just based on that, it looks like he lost his spot on the #1 PP. Maybe someone who has actually watched him can speak to that.

At even strength, he had 10 points in the first 20 games (the other point was SH). In the final 18 games, he had 5 points at even strength.

In the first 20 games, he had at least 1 shot on goal in every game and a total of 59 shots. In the last 18 games, he had zero shots on goal in 8 games and a total of 21 shots. 7 of those shots came in the Jan 4th game, his 21st game of the season. So, it seems like something changed after that game. Maybe he was moved to a lower line at even strength and didn't produce as much as a result.

Again, I don't have the breakdown of TOI to see who his linemates were, but that is a drastic change in production. His overall TOI doesn't seem to be that different from earlier in the year. That's just based on looking at the TOI for every game. I haven't averaged it out for both periods. There could be a bit of a drop off in overall ice time.

All of that is to suggest that he's better than he showed in the second half, but we'll see what the Rangers decide, and what Brody himself decides.

then we'll wait on Fortescue and Lamb ...
Karpa is also a senior but the best I could see for him is an straight ATO.

I agree with you that Fortescue probably can handle the transition to AHL. If Fortescue joins Dorrington that will be a significant change for the Hartford defense. Scanlin, Fitzgerald and Mackey are signed for next year. If Fortescue signs it would be nice if he brings his cousin, Holy Cross free agent right wing Liam MacLinsky with him.

Karpa I think the organization is just going to let walk.
Perrault and Fortescue probably come together is my guess.
Lamb let him stay one more year.
i have a feeling they sign both Lamb and Fortescue,
Lamb will be turning 22 with 3 B10 and NCAAs experience; and re Fort see Ric above

Along with Vaisanen, Laba and Dorrington, they fill out the young emerging cohort in the pipeline alongside this and last season's rookies.

This Pack team's mediocre season has to signal more changes needed

We got our wish. Excellent. He's a project at this point and because he's big an physical the expectations are he'll be the next Beukeboom as soon as this fall. Let him play a full year in th AHL and get more man strength.

My hope is that he's a meaner and more durable version of Lindgren.

Beukeboom was 6'5. Looks like Dorrington is 6'2. Beukeboom also came out of the OHL at a time when guys dropped the gloves all the time. So I'm not sure I'd exactly be looking for Dorrington to be a Beukeboom. At the moment with K'Andre a restricted and probably getting a longer term deal and with Soucy with one year left and Vaakanainen recently signed and who knows maybe they re-sign Jones I'm not seeing Dorrington making the Rangers next year. I'm thinking he'll play at least most of next year in Hartford.

NCAA tournament brackets finalized. First round is:

1. Boston College (Perreault, Fortescue) vs. 22. Bentley U
2. Michigan St. U vs. 17. Cornell U
3. Maine U vs. 13. Penn St U
4. Western Michigan U (Henricks) vs 14. Minnesota St. U
5. Minnesota U (Lamb) vs. 11. U Massachusetts Amherst
6. UConn vs. 12. Quinnipiac U
7. Boston U vs. 10. Ohio St U
8. Providence College vs. 9. Denver U

15. Michigan U 16. Arizona St. U 18. North Dakota U (EJ Emery's season ends) 19. U Massachusetts Lowell and 20. Clarkson U don't make the cut.

Some of the undrafted free agents we've been talking about have decisions to make---some still have college eligibility though.

Luke Haymes--Dartmouth College
Jack Stockfish and Liam McLinskey--Holy Cross
TJ Hughes--Michigan U
Jack Williams and Dylan Hryckowian--Northeastern U
Noah Beck--Arizona St U

Thanks, I did see earlier that his ELC begins next season. It all makes sense (to me) now.

Also, to clarify: The reason it's an ATO, is because he is not a pro hockey player yet. If he was already playing pro hockey, it would be a PTO. The differences between the two are negligible at this stage of the season though.

There are positives and negatives to the Wolfpack season.

On the negative side Louis Domingue has not had a very good year. He's 7-20-1 with a 3.32 GAA and an .896 save % and I think that's factored largely into the down year. I think it's also hard when you don't really have a power play capable defenseman on your roster. Two guys have hit 20 points for the Packs D this year--Robertson with 23 and Mackey with 20. Losing Bo Groulx--arguably their best veteran forward to injury a month or so back has not helped nor Berard and Othmann moving up to the Rangers. That is 3 key offensive players.

On the other hand I think Roobroeck, Chmelar, McConnell-Barker successfully made the jump from CHL/college programs to the AHL. I wouldn't necessarily say they'll be pushing for NHL jobs in the fall but they have a foundation to build from and should all improve next year. Sykora also improved in his second year as did Berard and Othmann who are showcasing in the NHL. So we've had some pretty good development for our young forward prospects. Dylan Garand has also had a pretty good third year---18-8-6 with a 2.70GAA and .914 save % and 3 shutouts. Laba and Dorrington coming in late in the season should help both when next year starts. We'll get a better idea I think on Brisson too.

Of the vets Belzile, Blidh have been good and Mackey and Ruhwedel steady on defense. Groulx was doing pretty well before his injury. Sucese has had a fairly strong second half. I've never understood what Leschyshyn brings. Both Gallant and Laviolette have had him up but what this guy does besides not produce enough and be on the ice when the other teams score.....that's pretty much what I've been seeing anyway. He's a -32 in 60 games with 84 shots on goal 12 goals and 23 points. The production numbers would be okay (definitely not great) for an AHL 3rd liner. That big of a minus player tells me he's not great defensively. I really don't see the positives.
