Prospect Info: 2024-2025 Rangers Prospects Thread (Prospect Stats and Info in Post #1; Updated 3.23.25)

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

We were optimistic he'd sign after last season and that he didn't was a bit of a surprise. The expectation is that he'll sign now, but you never know.

Makes sense. He was better last year and battled a lot of injuries this season. Would love to have him dominate a senior season but know he’s likely going to turn pro if they come offering a contract.

While he was injured this year he still had the capacity to take over games and was a beast in the faceoff circle. I hope his game translates well to the pro side for you guys.

Maine plays Northeastern tonight in a Hockey East playoff game. If Northeastern loses the team's season is over. Jackson Dorrington will be 21 in early April and will have completed three seasons at Northeastern. We'll know soon after Northeastern loses, whether tonight or later on in the tournament, whether the Rangers sign him.

Maine beats Northeastern in double overtime to end Northeastern’s season. Jackson Dorrington was very impressive in the two periods I watched. Big, physical, blocked several shots, skates well, played under control. He showed a booming shot from the point. Didn’t carry the puck much but was able to make a good first pass. Maybe he wants to go back to school for his last year but I think the Rangers try to sign him. We’ll know in the next few days.

By all accounts he had a good season. The Rangers will need some depth in Hartford next year. Harpur, Ruhwedel, and likely Robertson are gone. I don't know their contract status but I'd guess they don't want to depend on Siedem and McCarthy. The defense has been dreadful this season so I assume they'll want to infuse it with some new blood.

Fortescue seems like the other realistic option but I don't know if they want to wait another year on him.

Interesting Dorrington hasn't signed yet, maybe this week or the Rangers want him to go through all four years of school and have him and Fortescue join next spring on ATOs in Hartford/ELCs start in fall 2026?

He's only a few days removed from his season being over, with a weekend in between. I'll be surprised if he isn't signed within the next couple days.

Dont know anything about him. Anyone have any input?

He's a stay at home physical type player. Seemed to be on the top pair at Northeastern U (when you looked at lineups from game to game his pair was the top pair and Northeastern is a pretty good college program). Supposedly he's pretty strong and a pretty good hitter. Bern's always going on about Tyler Kleven.....maybe a bit like him......maybe a bit like Mancini.

So we'll wait for Perreault, and then we'll wait on Fortescue and Lamb. After the second half Lamb had, they may prefer he go back for his senior season, but who knows. Fortescue I think could handle the transition to the AHL but they may want to be patient with him.

Karpa is also a senior but the best I could see for him is an straight ATO.

Thanks, I stand corrected. Can you tell me why Laba’s is a 2 year deal?
Players who sign at an age between 18-21, it's automatically a 3-year deal. 22-23, automatically a 2 year deal. 24, it's a 1-year deal.

EDIT: To clarify, Laba is 21, but turns 22 before September 15. Since September 15 is the date his contract actually goes into effect, it counts as a 2-year deal.

We got our wish. Excellent. He's a project at this point and because he's big an physical the expectations are he'll be the next Beukeboom as soon as this fall. Let him play a full year in th AHL and get more man strength.

My hope is that he's a meaner and more durable version of Lindgren.

Harvard was eliminated from the ECAC tournament a few weeks ago. You would think if Karpa was going to get an ATO it would have happened by now. Maybe he comes to development camp and signs an AHL contract and plays in the ECHL next year.

I think if he wants to jump Fortescue signs. He's played two world's made one NCAA final (this year is pending) and would be coming back to a team that is not likely to be as good without Leonard and Perrault. While he always can improve I don't think there's going to be a big jump in his performance by staying in college another year. And I agree with you that Fortescue probably can handle the transition to AHL. If Fortescue joins Dorrington that will be a significant change for the Hartford defense. Scanlin, Fitzgerald and Mackey are signed for next year. If Fortescue signs it would be nice if he brings his cousin, Holy Cross free agent right wing Liam MacLinsky with him.

Karpa I think the organization is just going to let walk.

Perrault and Fortescue probably come together is my guess.

Lamb let him stay one more year. The hope is he can develop into a competent sidekick who can hit 20 goals as unlikely as that is.
