Player Discussion Nikita Zadorov

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

99.9% of the time I detest teammates doing this shit. I'm very consistent on this. It's not about either player, who is right, or whatever. When it comes to teammates I am very much a "family business is family business" person. Say whatever you want behind closed doors.
Unless it was said behind closed doors, and it was not accepted, and I get what you are saying keep it in house but sometimes, a different approach needs to be taken. There are a lot of younger players in that room, what kind of impression, if you have a player that is not connecting with the rest of the room. Look I am going to hide my feelings about Swayman, I have not liked what gone on with him this pass year, I might be wrong, but I have seen nothing from him that changes my mind.

The problem with what Swayman did was obvious: if you want to fight someone who you feel took advantage of one of your guys, you go do it. Instead, he made it a spectacle and it ended up looking more like it was about him rather than the team. We've seen this act from him before in his own end. A swat with his stick here, chest puff into someone else's chest there, but ultimately nothing but hot air. A fight at center ice wasn't going to happen and he knew it.

Zadorov has plenty in his own game to worry about before he starts commenting on how other people are playing.

If he was Ray Bourque thats one thing, but the guy has had plenty of benny hill like shifts so far this season so not sure why he thinks he has room to talk.

Guys been a 3rd pairing Dman for most of his career with some serviceable spot duty in the top 4. Haven't seen anything from him since he's been here to make me think he can change his spots 12+ seasons into his career.
He wa asked a stupid question and he answered. He didn't say anything about how Swayman is playing?

Apparently that was sticking up for a teammate and Zadorov should have praised him for his ballsy display of machismo..

The worst thing about this whole story to me is the media. Why the hell do they need to do locker room interviews after a shit show like that that is coming on the heels of another shit show in the midst of a long-running shit show? What's the point? Do the "fans" really need to know this crucial information? Then a guy gives a non-boiler plate answer and now look at the controversy. I don't know what Zadorov really meant by that, and almost surely no one in this thread does either, But, let's pile on the guy for it anyway, eh? And we definitely ought to be drawing conclusions about the state of the locker room from it, too.

Bruins team, fans and media are spoiled rotten, are not used to losing, do not know how to handle this, and as such are losing their s&&t over every little thing.
It takes years of losing for the blank numbness and faint hope each new season to sink in like it does for teams like Buffalo. Everyone needs a perspective shift. The era is over. It's just a question now of how long it'll take to start a new one. If Swayman doesn't improve, it could be a long long time.

Right, but look at the people who are pissed every time Sweeney speaks that he doesn't lay out very specific plans on what he's doing, or that he doesn't talk to the media every week. It's entitlement.

I don't see that as quite the same thing. Sweeney should be more forthright in his press conferences and interviews, as that is his job in part. Not every week, but he should surface more often than he does, either he or Cam. They're management. The players are just players. Yes they get some basic coaching on how to do interviews, but that isn't what they are signed for or paid to do. I guess fans are entitled, but I don't know how many would actually miss the post-game player interviews if they didn't happen sometimes. Maybe most would. I wouldn't.

Zadorov has been fine for the most part. Now, is he $5M fine? Probably eh, that could be questioned. I think he's 1-1.5M overpaid.

Hopefully when everyone is back and healthy he has a consistent partner all season. Guy has played with every single d-man and is now forced to play top pair minutes.

He wasn't going to sign for 3.5 million, he was already making more than that. If you don't like him as a player, he is over paid, his signing does not bother me, he is playing over 20 minutes a game, since the injury bug it this team's defense.

If you had to pick one contract you were forced to give out in the last offseason, do you pick either Forborts or Zadorovs?
Forbort even without the benefit of hindsight. Plus he’d be instrumental in the tank right now.

Zadorov is just not worth anything close to that number, nor with those years. It’s absurd. It’s worse than the Lindholm contract and I didn’t like that one either.

Exactly. Ultimately I'm fine with how he's been this year. Physical, stands up for his teammates, has no issues mixing it up and has kept other guys honest. I look back to Jeannot earlier this year. Zadorov neutered him from the start of the game and he was known to run around against the Bruins. Zadorov hammered him into the boards, then later absolutely dummied him with an open ice hit. We haven't had that on the back end since Kevan Miller was around. Being a +14 on this team right now while the next closest is +5. He's one of only 2 positive players right now on this roster.

Only two players on the roster have a + +/-

Koepke at +5
and
Zadorov at +14

+/- is a pretty dumb stat but it's bananas how far he is from the rest of the club considering he's being asked to shoulder big defensive minutes while the roster is tanking.

There's 44 point difference between him and Lorhei's -30.
The only time I think it’s useful is comparing across a team, when somebody is this far out ahead of everybody else (and the only other guy that’s + is a guy who has been in and out of the lineup this year) he is decidedly not a problem

Lohrei being a -30 with 63% Ozone starts is wild. Bless his heart, get all the bugs out this year Mason!
