5 points out of a playoff spot
5 points out of a top 5 pick.
so little separation is just crazy.

if you believe that we are a .500 team then we should expect to win 12 of our final 24 games. we've already won 2, that would mean that we're due to win 10 more. now, do i believe that is likely is to happen? not really. do i think it's impossible? also noOf course the games matter. But if you are expecting us to win 10 of 13 against mostly the best teams in the league, which is what we need to do at least to make the playoffs, I think that is an unreasonable expectation. Our beginning record with Todd (15-5) is not how good we are, we are much worse than that. Talent wise we are about at .500 type team. We are a lower tier one line team with bad D and goaltending. We have virtually no secondary scoring and the D speaks for itself. Goaltending is all over the map.
Habs won again, 6 points out now.

I think last season was our chance, but alas. I doubt the Habs reach 91 points.Don't you need a 8 year rebuild and have all your top prospects on the roster before you can make the playoffs?
The way this team has been playing - they’ll find a way to lose…At this point I’m painfully indifferent.Habs win, Rangers and Jackets lost.
If* the Habs lose to Nasvhille tomorrow, and we beat Florida and Montreal. Wings would be two points back with a game in hand.

Habs win, Jackets lose. Even if we win Tuesday we will be four points back with a game in hand. Not Ideal, if we lose they would be eight points up and obviously that would be the actual dagger.

After us they play the Sens and Leafs back to back, then the Hawks and finish against Carolina. They could easily lose 3 of 4 here.Today's win by Mtl sealed it completely for us. After the Montreal game there will only be 5 games left and even if we pull within 4 pts of them, that is a lot to make up in just 5 games and needing them to basically lose all they have left. Not to mention the Rangers are also in the mix.

I don't think it happens, but I can see a goofy path here.
Good teams don’t do much at the end of the season. They’re all resting guys. They’re not necessarily harder games at this stage.Yeah, but we also have a tough schedule, with Dallas, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Florida, and New Jersey. We could easily lose all 5 of those and not really be on us choking, as those are all among the top teams in the league. I won't be surprised to see us go 1-5, or 2-4 the rest of the way.
