As for the Rangers; i'm not sure a coaching change is going to fix their problems.

People have been shouting from the rooftops since last year they were kind of a mirage; Last year they rode a potentially unsustainable goaltending performance + a strong power play to the president's trophy while being feeble at 5 on 5.

Sure enough, that team has faceplanted and hard. Didn't really address their issues from last year (Reilly Smith surprisingly doesn't add much on his own, go figure), a couple of key parts are playing way worse with Ryan Lindgren and K'Andre Miller being the biggest offenders on defense and then Mika Zibanejad falling off the face of the earth offensively.

To me it looks like the best play might be to try and retool on the fly. Keep some of the old guard around with Fox and Trocheck, Laf and Chytil along with some of the young guys that have emerged in Cuylle and Schneider. Trade Kreider, try to find someone to sucker on Zibanejad. And then given he only has a year left on his deal and is still producing at an elite rate, ship off Panarin for a stupid haul.

Sounds a bit nuts but with the pieces the Rangers still have (elite 1D, goalie) plus their inherent market advantage to sign anyone they want means this would be relatively quick.

And I bet every GM looks at the Athletic trade value. You can compare all you want, the truth is every player is tradeable. From Gretzky to Mathew Tkachuk. Hell the Bruins even let their greatest player leave. Your smugness on this board is hilarious. Especially when your evaluations like:
Ullmark won't waive to Ottawa
Guentzal will 10 million or move
Zeev Buium is going top 5 /he won't drop pass 7
and so on.
Add in his I wouldn't trade Mason Lohrei for Chychrun statement two years ago that he recently doubled down on and the same exchange two years ago told me Lohrei was near the same as Brock Faber. His other beauty was Barbashev is a JAG.

He owned up to that one, but pretty sure he claimed it was only one he ever missed.

Guy probably pays $2K a year for advanced stats so he can bring us his A level smugness.

Then what do you call a 3 years older power forward (that tend not to age well)?
A player that has out produced your " in his prime center" and he has two and a half years at 6.5 million contract, compared to your in his prime center at 7.75 million with six and a half years left. I opt for the more productive, shorter term, less cap hit, player.

Agree to disagree.

Heartbreaking what is happening to the Rangers

Might be better off missing playoffs and having Betman get them Hagens

Tkachuk is a stud and if you think the Bruins wouldn't trade Pasta for him I think you would very disappointed.

Personally I would love that trade, I think Cam would two.
According to here Cam & Donny are getting fired - the next guy i believe I read, Chara, will do the trade while doing a marathon in London during a water break

Heard he’s going to be the savior with 100 .% approval rating

What a time to be alive if your a Bruins fan

3 points for a regulation win solves all of this nonsense.

Going to a Hockey East-style point system seems good. Perhaps they could use it in the AHL as an experiment(as has been done before) for a season and see how it goes.

"All conference games are worth three points. The points are awarded as follows:

3 for a regulation win
2 for an overtime win or shootout "win"
1 for an overtime or shootout "loss"
0 for a regulation loss"

Really?

Guess I don't know those people.

See I don't like this when the game is decided via gimmick. A hard fought contest that ends in a tie, but you get zippo because of a shootout goal or a pond hockey finish?

I think that's lousy, personally.

I agree that the current OT/Shootout thing is a stupid gimmick. I was fine with the tie games but I also feel sure the league will never go back to that. I don't like incentivizing teams to play for the point instead of going for it, either. I get what you are saying, though. There is not a lot good (allegedly) about the current setup other than Bettman et al.'s insistence on "entertainment" (despite the numerous areas of the game where they wreck the entertainment value).

Given that the 12th forward dressed each night has become a revolving door, I see no reason not to give him a shot here. They inserted Johnson last night who put up a minus 4.
My thoughts exactly

They gave Max Jones all of 4 games at the same salary. If it doesn't work out, send him to Providence and don't give him a qualifying offer.

I could see a team lower the waiver order also putting in a claim.

Who am I kidding, the Bruins probably have zero interest in him. Not a "Bruin-type" of player. Cam says no.
