I’ve seen a few. He’s really progressing well considering his age and 1st year in NA. He has a ways to go but so far so good.

I don't know if it "sounded" like that but was just giving up the info, that nobody here had him on their radar just a few months ago.

Beckner is having a very good season for a 19 year old 7th

I wouldn't say "very good" but not too bad actually, he's 18th in scoring among u-20 drafted prospects.

I think it's a lot more than we could have hoped from a 7th rounder. Ryan Dzingel had 24 pts in 33 games in his first college season so maybe we get a legit prospect here so yeah he deserves to "rise up the ranks" for now

Yes, I'm just looking at numbers, but I'd put Blake Montgomery at 2.

Kleven isn't a prospect anymore, Halladay has good hands and vision, but lacks speed, strength, and defensive awareness required to be an NHL player (Jaraventie part 2?), and Ostapchuk has 4th line upside.

Montgomery is the same age as super-prospect Easton Cowan, and has the same PPG on the same team.

When your prospect pool is very weak after #1, Monty seems like a good #2 to me.

(Merilainen would be #2, but I'm not considering him a prospect anymore, I think he's done with the AHL).

Agreed, I'd have Montgomery just after Yakemchuk now. Merilainen definitely #3. Ostapchuk and Kleven are graduating

There's a big drop after that Top-3 IMO.

* Merilainen has 11 NHL games, as good as he has done for a few games, he might still go back to the AHL due to contracts once Ullmark is back. He's still going to be a prospect until at least next season.

Yes he was the guy I was the highest on last summer, thought he could do what Montgomery is actually doing. So maybe next season.

In the meantime, my Top-3 is pretty clear

After that it gets harder to rank them. How far does Sogaard drop? Does Reinhardt rise? What about Donovan? Etc.

Reinhart is 4th line upside. Depth guy, I would even list him. Sogaard is on pause until he can stay healthy. I also think Halliday is someone you hope has a great finish to the year and gains some trade value as I don’t see a place for him.

You mean you would NOT even list him?

If we're not listing him, it means :

- we're not doing the same thing as other fanbases on HF that rank all their prospects.

- we could pretty much only do a Top-5 ranking then because that's the state of the pool right now, Reinhardt should easily be a Sens Top-10 prospect.

I’m just speaking of my way of viewing what a prospect is. Everyone in their draft - draft + 2 season is a prospect.

For players D+3 or later I ignore AHL/NHL tweeners.

I prefer to stick to consensus, because it's impossible to deal with everyone's unique way of "seeing it"

Don’t get me wrong, I understand the list is something to do during the offseason to keep the talk going. In my mind we have 5 prospects from drafts prior to 2023
