Wow no Parekh either?
saw that. I was surprised but .. He is not setting the world on fire like he did last year.
although a lot of players would be happy with 8g 22a in 22 games
Interesting they left both him and Yak off .. it could be just the D parts of their games or other players are producing better this year if they are looking at offense

Parkekh has 30 pts in 22 games +13
Yakchuk has 23 pts in 20 games -1

He should be their #1 guy at every slot

Have no clue where the no hockey IQ or limited offense came from last year.

Sharks made out like bandits
Really took a nice step this year. His skating continues to be outstanding and he looks like the best player on the ice a lot of the time.

I liked him last year

Yeah he was the guy we should have picked in the 2nd round.

6'3, great skater, good defensively, plays physical, heavy shot and a sneaky talent level given his production.

But no we had to go full Boucher and take the goon. Just had to have the most physical/tough guy, no matter if he could actually play hockey.

Biggest mistake Staios made is not shitcanning our laughably out-of-touch scouting staff after being hired.

In defense of the Eliasson pick, before the draft it was said the Kings wanted a second round pick and specifically mentioned they liked Eliasson. Then when we took him, again it was said they absolutely loved him.

I don’t know that there are many teams better at drafting defensemen than LA. And they don’t really have the size fetish we do either. So there might actually be something there.

If that's the case we should trade him to LA and laugh at them for it.

Eh even with the Kings, they're great at developign RHD. Their LHD development has been less than stellar.

Well I’m disappointed. I have 100 level seats to the NYE CAN-USA, I was looking forward to seeing Yak.

You would think almost forcing his way into the Sens roster during TC would open some eyes.

My favorite tournament wont be as fun without any Sens prospects.

It's nice having a draft class that allows us to maintain some optimism beyond November.

Yakemchuk, Ellinas, Montgomery and Wallenius are all doing quite well. Eliasson has seemingly had a positive impact in Barrie and Moore, while not off to a good start in the USHL by any means, hasn't been totally awful for a rookie who just barely qualifies for U20.

Based on what? 3 points in 24 games and I just looked through his PIM totals and he's taken 23 minor penalties, so basically one per game on average.

No D that brings zero offense and puts the team on the man advantage at least once a game with a dumb penalty is going to bring a positive impact overall, even if he's playing physical.

If you're just going to look at the stats, at least look at the stats.

He is playing a meaningful role on a top 5 team in the league, they are outscoring their opponents by a good margin (+7) with him on the ice despite the fact that they don't really score much. Both of his goals were significant in the context of the game.

As for his minor penalties, 5 of them were plays where the opponent received an equivalent or greater penalty and there are also 2 instances where he was instigated upon, resulting in a game misconduct and additional minor penalty to the opponent. Not to mention, it's the OHL. There are lots of penalties.

He also contributes to a Conference-best PK.

It's not like I am singing his praises, saying he was a good pick, or saying that he's been a top player for him. He has, by all accounts, been a useful player for them. But it seems like this one is kind of personal for you.

+/- is a garbage stat and not worth giving any attemtion to.

Matthew Andonovski was a +58 last year and he's only a +2 this year, but that says little to nothing about his overall play and everything to do with the quality of his team.

As for his minor penalties, 5 of them were plays where the opponent received an equivalent or greater penalty and there are also 2 instances where he was instigated upon, resulting in a game misconduct and additional minor penalty to the opponent. Not to mention, it's the OHL. There are lots of penalties.

I specifically only counted the penalties where there was no offsetting. Didn't count any fights or evened-up roughing penalties in that total of 23.

You can say there's lots of penalties in the OHL, but he's 2nd in the league for total PIMs.

His undisciplined play at every level has continued in the OHL. Not a lot of reason to think that'll stop at higher levels where he'll be put in more difficult defending situations against better players.

He also contributes to a Conference-best PK.

He puts his team on the PK once a game. If a player were doing that in the NHL he wouldn't be on the team for long, especially if he brought zero offense to the table.

He could be prime Lidstrom defensively and if he were taking a dumb penalty every game he'd likely be a net negative contributer.

People need to understand that giving the team a powerplay against unnecessarily is the equivalent of being personally responsible for at least a scoring chance against, if not several, as most powerplays end up producing chances, even if they don't end up turning into goals.

Therefore it's very difficult for an undisciplined player to be good defensively, and that's something our organization has failed to understand for some time now.

It's not like I am singing his praises, saying he was a good pick, or saying that he's been a top player for him. He has, by all accounts, been a useful player for them. But it seems like this one is kind of personal for you.

I didn't like the pick, obviously, and nothing he has done since being drafted has made me doubt that opinion, but I don't harbour anything against Eliasson personally.
