MONTGOMERY ON TAP: Knights associate GM Rob Simpson said one of the main hurdles to bringing NHL prospect Blake Montgomery to London has been cleared.
The Ottawa Senators fourth-rounder’s transfer agreement has been completed with the Lincoln Stars of the United States Hockey League and the next step is transfer approval between USA Hockey and Hockey Canada.
“All things look promising to have him in our lineup in the near future,” Simpson said.
The 19-year-old Montgomery, who had three goals and 10 points in 10 games this fall, recently left Lincoln and has been working out in Michigan. Now, the wheels are in motion to get him to London to start practising with the team.
The 6-foot-4, 187-pound forward had previously been verbally committed to the University of Wisconsin. His older brother Bryce played for the Knights from 2019-23 and is currently with the ECHL’s Bloomington Bison (New York Rangers affiliate).
“Blake is big, long and has talent and skill,” Simpson said. “He’ll be a good addition to our forward group.”
