Nichushkin's 7-10 day injury will now be at least 3 weeks.
Good stuff.
They only add up the weekends when they give these estimates

For the folks that think it’s been a concussion with Drouin, it’s not.
Jonathan Drouin gets candid talking injury, 'frustrating' first half
If last season with the Avalanche was a dream for Jonathan Drouin, the start to this season has to feel like a bit of a nightmare.denvergazette.com
Ludwig was waived.
So once all D return how will Colorado top 6 look on defense? Who will be 7th defenseman?
I agree with that. So what happens to Kylington? Goes on waivers probably?Middleton or de Haan. We’ve been carrying 8 since Ludvig was recalled from his conditioning stint.
Toews - Makar
Girard - Manson
CdH/Middleton - Malinski
CdH/Middleton
Regardless, I don’t think anybody will pickup Ludvig.
Honestly interested in how folks feel/think about this...
If Gabe really thinks he's ready, why would he be waiting until after the 4 Nations tournament to come back?
Wouldn't he be on the ice trying to make Sweden's team? With as few best on best tournaments as Gabe has been allowed to perform in, does anyone really think he would willingly skip this one, if healthy? If Sweden doesn't keep a roster spot open for him as an injury replacement, I'm not sure how excited I should get. But I do grin everytime I see him back on the ice... so I have that going for me.
He's on IR. Has been for a while.I agree with that. So what happens to Kylington? Goes on waivers probably?
I know. I meant what happens to him once he comes off IR?He's on IR. Has been for a while.
He needs time to shake off the 3 year rust tho. Can't just jump right back into the playoffs.
Someone will go on LTIR after 4 nation's to free up Landy.
More than likely, Middleton will be sent down.I know. I meant what happens to him once he comes off IR?
This is where I get mad at my editor and take no blame…"Between the pipes: Can't pin this one on Blackwood, ..."
You started to write this up before the last minute comeback, and then forgot to change this part, didn't you?
But really, just thanks for the digging and background on the Drouin situation. More than we usually get, and it helps cut down our speculation, in one area anyway.

Are we gaining anything in cap space with him being out of the lineup but not on LTIR? Not sure why, but I just keep getting confused on how teams can "gain" cap space throughout the year in order to accomodate more expensive players at the deadline. If Nuke being scratched does benefit the team in any way, wouldn't this also maybe be a sign they are trying to clear space every way they can to be able to activate Landy?Nichushkin's 7-10 day injury will now be at least 3 weeks.

I agree... but I also object. It's the wrong move, but it's the move they will make. Middleton offers two things... a more physical presence, but more importantly... he's an objectively better defenseman.More than likely, Middleton will be sent down.
You gain cap space by spending below the cap each day. Think of it this way, you are going to get 7 dollars at the end of the week. If the 1st 6 days you only spend 90 cents, you can spend 1.6 dollars the last day. The Avs though, have spent over the cap nearly every day this year, so they have not accured any cap space. Nuke being scratched vs going on IR doesn't have anything to do with the cap."There's so many things we can do now to kind of mask it for a couple of hours," he said. "I can fight through it. It's something that's tolerable and playable. Unless I break my leg or something really breaks in half, I'll be playing as long as I feel good enough to play and help my team."
I do not like reading this. I agree, they can absolutely mask things for a couple of hours and allow him to play pain free. But we all know what those things they do to mask pain for hours are right? RIGHT? He's running a risk if he's using the Avs med staff to adminster high level drugs to get him through a game.

I know it is (was?) a legit injury. I am just starting to wonder if he started using again during his recovery and the Avs are trying to keep him away from being tested until it is out of his system. He was so close to come back and suddenly we don't see him anywhere. Just suspicious.No. Legit injury.
